From his lowly position on the living room carpet, the wee white mouse stared up at the stockings his mother had hung by the chimney with care. Well, it was more likely that Lucinda, the three-times-a-week housecleaner, had done the decorative touches for the season.
"Everything's so big!" Nathan thought as he gazed around the room with beady eyes. The whiskers on either side of his snout twitched.
"This is so weird!" Nathan thought excitedly. What should he do next?
Suddenly, from out on the lawn, there arose such a clatter that Nathan heard the commotion from inside the home. "What the hell?" Nathan stared up at a window and wished there might be a way to have a look outdoors.
Perhaps, he decided, he should restore himself and have a look outside. He turned toward the Chronivac unit and, for the first time, noticed the blinking message "Error Code 10" flashed in red LED lights.
Nathan didn't know what the message meant, but the fact an error was flashing on the unit's screen at all made him plenty nervous.
