A young man of about 17 was walking downtown some Tuesday afternoon. He'd seen the reports on TV, both from the remaining human operated stations, and the now elf run programs. In his own town, there was a sort of uneasy peace between humans and elves at the moment, even with the transformation steadily spreading. By this point the young man could care less about whether or not he'd be infected. All he cared about was whether it'd effect his chances of employment anywhere in town. This was a boy seeking a purpose.
Just then, he overheard something as he walked along. The source of the sound was what appeared to be a little elf girl having somewhat of a discussion with a tree.
"How on Kringle's snowy Earth did you even get that high?" she seemingly directed at something high up in the branches. All she got in response was a single meow. Turned out to be a cat stuck up the tree.
"Excuse me," the young man asked the little elf girl, "Did your cat get stuck up a tree?"
"Kitten, rilly," she explained, "and yessir, she's stuck up there. She said that a mean ol' bulldog chased her up there this mornin' while I was asleep. I woke up an' went lookin' for her, an' now I found her but I can't reach any of the branches to help her down. Can you help me get her down, big mister?"
The young man considered her request, and decided that since he did kinda just waltzed himself into this situation he might as well see it through. "Yeah, I'll get her."
"YAY!!!" the elf girl jumped up and down with delight (well, slightly more delight than usually) as the young man managed to climb up the tree to where the kitten was clinging to a thin limb. He reached out for the kitty to crawl onto his arm, which the smallish feline was surprisingly happy to oblige. Having retrieved the baby cat, he climbed back down and returned it to the eagerly waiting arms of its childlike owner.
"Thank you so much for getting Mistletoe back for me!" the elf thanked the young man, "C'mere! I wanna give you a hug I'm so happy right now!" She suddenly roped the young man in an embrace, and that's when the changes hit him.
In a near instant he shrunk down to a similar size as the elf girl, his ears becoming long and pointed in the process. His eyes turned a dynamic shade of cobalt blue, somehow retaining the whites of his eyes and pupils, even though their shape became big and cartoon-like. His nose became a sharp little thorn rather than sticking out three inches long, and a joyful grin spread across his cheeks. His hair turned golden yellow and spiked up in a fluffy sort of way, almost like an anime character. His clothes turned into a forest green tunic with a reddish burgundy long-sleeved shirt, similarly colored loose trousers, and sturdy brown leather boots.
Afterwards, the girl released the newly minted elf boy to get a good look at him. She giggled, "You came out rilly brave looking! Another round of Christmas cheer spread by master recruiter Zelda!"
Getting a good look at this Zelda elf, she had the standard elvish accouterments; long ears, pointy nose (another little thorn-like one), big grin, rosy cheeks. Her unique features were waist length light blonde hair, pure sparkly lavender eyes, a gold circlet that was centered with a little triangle made up of three smaller triangles and a ruby in the middle, a lavender and white long sleeved dress with gold trim, and thigh-high brown boots.
"Say, what's your name?" Zelda asked the young man.
