Marceline's eyes flicked from Nicolai to Dylan.
Mine.
That thought registered clearly. The human, the goo - those belonged to the dragoness!
A growl rose in her throat, making the human step away and even pull his sword slightly from its sheath. But the aggressive noise wasn’t targeted at the human. No, it was at the mere thought of something happening to her prized possessions.
But where were the others? she wondered.
Marceline looked around, neck extending to help her search, letting her turn her head all the way around to see every inch of the cave. Her pupils turned first oblong and then to slits, increasing her dark vision with each miniscule change. When Nicolai next caught her eye he saw very little of Marceline left in them. Those weren’t the eyes of a gentle healer, but those of a tyrannical beast!
Marceline pawed the rocky floor with one of her rear feet, heels rising up as her feet underwent their changes, extending claws digging ruts through the stone floor like a plow through a field! Marceline stamped again and roared, lifting her head high as she did. The cavern rumbled around them as she cried out for her lost possessions. Her tail, growing slowly over her thick rump, lashed back and forth, decimating the podium with its careless swooshes.
Rocks clinked off of Nicolai’s thick armour. The knight raised his shield to help protect himself from the unwarranteed granite barrage.
A familiar voice rang out from the far end of the cave.
