As Tetrick held him in place, and the crowd of teenage onlookers dispersed, Jared felt a biting fear crawl over his body, like a pack of invisible fleas. He had no idea what Tetrick had in mind to do with him and, given his short fuse and penchant for unfair discipline, Jared has a feeling he didn’t want to know.
But, at the same time that he felt as though he should listen to Tetrick and “be still”, another part of him knew that this was only his dog-self’s mind listening to orders like some animal. Summoning up as much of his human instincts as he could, Jared’s old self took control of his body for a good window of time, long enough to help him struggle free. With a stifled curse from Tetrick, Hared began running as fast as he could, not entirely sure where he was going to go. But anywhere was better than where he would be if he didn’t keep running.
Jared had been going to the school for a long time now, but suddenly, with his adrenaline pumping like mad and his inability to think straight, the corridors made the relatively small-ish building feel like a two-floor city block. As fear and worry took over his brain once more, Jared lost his human capacity to think and reason once more, and continued running as if his life depended on it. Which, for all he knew, it very well did.
Jared sprinted past the legs of countless startled and confused students, hearing a bevy of different comments from them all, including “What the-?”, “Who’s Dog is that?”, “Why is he wearing underwear?”, and even the occasional “Hey, boy.” Jared didn’t stop to think about how many people were looking at him in his dog form with his underwear in plain view around his waist. All he could focus on, as his brain shifted from that of a boys to that of a dogs, was finding someplace to hide from Tetruck until he could figure out what to do next.
Acting on pure instinct, Hared took a right turn, and burst into the room nearest to him.
