Coach continued. "In order to prove you're going to change your tune. You can do something for the school."
Coach Collins pulled a rubber horse head from below his desk.
"See, at last weeks practice, RJ, the cheerleader who plays the mascot broke his leg. He was doing one of those flips or whatever and came down wrong. Real wrong. It was a compound fracture blood got all over the suit. It's trashed. We managed to salvage the head but we don't have a mascot. With your well, assets and um free time, do you think you could show up at the pep rally and the game and represent the school?"
Jake's mouth dropped. Not only was he missing out on leading the team in the second to last game of the season but now he had to do it as a freak mascot from the sidelines.
"Crap coach. This is the worst. Cant you just tell Mrs. Harrison to lay off." Jake said with a whine.
"Listen bro, you got yourself into this mess and I'm trying to get you out. If you're trying to be scouted on that last game and get those scholarships, you'll put up with what you have to." Coach said in a near growl.
"Fine." Jake grabbed the head and left the office not waiting for the coach to dismiss him.
"Hey Jake! Throw away that other stupid sock on the way out." Coach called after him.
Jake regretfully tossed the last stitch of clothing he had recovered and rushed out of the room. It was time for lunch and he needed to get through this ridiculous day.
