Merry Christmas From Animalia

added by makutamon 4 years ago O

Christmas Eve And Christmas Day were one of the two biggest events in Animalia, especially for the newest members of Animalia.

As was the case from other Animalia Christmas Expositions, the Great Snow War was called off so people who were participating could celebrate Christmas with family and friends. There was also a communal Christmas Feast and gift exchange, with some of them being funnier than others.

Annie and Ralph, Animalia’s Maiasaura Dinotopians made a bit of a startling announcement to the news.

“Jake’s Christmas presents for this year now include two younger sisters and one younger brother.” Said Annie, much to everyone’s surprise.

“How’s Jake taking their hatching?” Asked one reporter.

“You have seen how pets behave when their owners suddenly bring in a new baby?” Asked Ralph, “And before you answer, Son of The Mask doesn’t count.”

While in another part of the Great Hall, Kara was unwrapping her latest gift. What it was was a little confusing to her. It was a baking apron clearly meant for a woman, made of pink cloth and with red frills on the edges, even without the words “sweet cakes” printed to be at the bust line.

“Don’t mind them.” Fran reassured her as everyone around her laughed, “It’s just one of those crazy gifts from crazy people.” At that, Kara felt much better, not that she was going to reject it.

Meanwhile the funniest gifts were those from Miss Vivian’s Intimacy Boutique, especially the mesh stockings of coal included with said gifts.

Another thing that everyone enjoyed were the various Animalian Christmas Programs, especially now that they were available on DVD at the Gift Shop. The most “critically acclaimed” of these was “An Animalian Christmas Carol”.

The newest thing that had a lot of people interested was the December Multicultural Showcase, which not only showed how Christmas was celebrated around the world, but also holidays like Hanukkah and Kwanza. It was a little amusing to see the story of how Hanukkah got started as an “action hero” puppet show for younger children.

But that didn’t mean that there weren’t funny things going on:

“I hope you and everyone else enjoys this year’s Christmas Program.” Said Abby at the “closing down” of the Western Front.

“They still doing Nativity Scenes?” Asked one old lady who fit the sayings “old as the hills, and tough as an old boot”, and was still capable of walking around. “They did those when I was a country girl, in a one room schoolhouse.”

“What part did you play?” Asked Jessica.

“Joseph,” Answered the old lady, “and once, a camel.” At seeing their surprised looks, she added on, “I was always the biggest in my class, bigger than even some of the farm boys back then.”

Just then the Horizon Reperesentative came out to get her ready for her conversion, and after she entered, the representative explained, “She’s a centennial that wasn’t as ‘important’ as Daniel and Joshua, but she’s a hundred and five years old, and she survived the dust bowl, the Great Depression, and two world wars.”

“Is she really that old?” Asked Malice, finding such a number hard to believe.

“Pretty sure,” Said the representative, “But she said ‘To get a clear answer, you’d have to cut off my head and count the rings in my neck.’”

On seeing Elly blanch at that, Sophie quickly explained, “To find out how old a tree is, they usually cut it down and count the rings in the wood.”

All together, Christmas in Animalia was both fun and educational. Merry Christmas from all of us in Animalia.
