The year is 20**. Virtual reality has advanced quite bit since its initial conception. Most in the early days believed they would always be used for silly games you could look around in, but they were quite wrong. Now, all one had to do was buy a slightly expensive headset and their entire mind would be placed in a virtual world of their choosing. The headsets can't be removed from the outside for safety reasons but it wouldn't matter anyway as when you're inside, the mind is trapped there until either a timer runs up, or the administrator removes it virtually.
Due to these odd specifics of the technology, one of the craziest new business practices are VR vacation centers, where people and their families go to be hooked up in a vacation of their choosing. Food is provided through IVs while the people can relax and eat as much virtual food as they want without getting fat. They can swim and jump and do whatever they want with no physical consequence. People can go to larger servers with other real people or even just stay in a private server with family and seemingly real NPCs. People have even started requesting for changes to their virtual bodies.
The market was exploding, and because of this, companies were scrambling to hire workers for individual server control. People that weren't full qualified were becoming administrators. These less than trustworthy people had been given control over the vacations of people, and what happens to them on it. Most people don't really worry about this however, as most don't believe they could do much. The worst that can happen is that from their own computers at home, they'd fuck up the vacation, get fired, and then the victims would get free vacations for life or something.
That was usually the case, but not today.
Jim was an ok programmer who had recently become an administrator. He got the job through an old friend and he had been working hard not to screw it up. He had watched over a few vacations but had slowly started to fiddle with what he could do. He slowly discovered the extent of his commands and had become aroused at his power. He could change people's genders, species, age, and bodily measurements at will. He had done this once or twice at the request of a few, but he started digging into the code and found other little tricks.
He could alter the wearers mind as well. This was harder to do and had limits but the real kicker was that he could alter memory. It was the easiest change to make and that gave him an idea. Since the company was so busy, nobody monitored him on every other week. He figured that he could play around with whoever entered next, and make them into whatever he wanted, or make them think whatever he wanted.
He figured he could change who was in what relationship, punish people who deserved it, give richer assholes a taste on the other side, whatever he wanted.
Monday finally came and Jim started up his computer at home. He watched the security footage, eager to see who exactly was about to put themselves under his control, and enter their virtual "vacation."
