New Year's in Animalia - A year in review

added by makutamon 4 years ago O

The final day of the ACE was often commemorated with the re-enactment of the signing of the Treaty of Versailles that ended WWI, but adapted to be more appropriate for the Great Snow War. But that wasn't the only thing that was going on. There was also a party that was designed to help pass the time before the countdown before 2019. Most of them were clips of important news involving Animalia during 2018. Most of them were for those who have been uplifted too late to take part in certain celebrations in Animalia.

---

"This is the Travel Channel's special coverage of Spookyville." said one PR-MD agent, showing the episode to the newest members of Animalia. "The DVD that has this episode is available at the gift shop, alongside other DVDs made in Animalia."

The most popular of these DVDs were both the Animalian Adaptations of A Christmas Carol and the Nutcracker Suite, and the erotic remakes of well known horror movies. These last ones were so popular that their sale continued well after Halloween, but these were often only sold at Miss Vivian's Intimacy Boutique.

---

There was also a showcase of the photos taken in Egypt by ASM. Some of them were of animals associated with certain "popular" Egyptian gods done up as their namesakes and seemingly lounging against some of Egypt's famous landmarks, with Venus done up as Bast lounging against the sphinx taking the "top spot" and inspired a new product from ASM, which involved signed poster adaptations of the pictures.

The other pictures were also Animalians done up as Egyptian gods, but instead they were seemingly present in their temple either enjoying their worshiper's attention or dealing with modern defilers. One really funny one, which also inspired a 15 minute spoof of the Indiana Jones movies, involved Xochitl (done up as a female Anubis) trying to frighten off two modern archaeologists but they were focused on something else after they encountered her, while two gods commented that "mortals these days have no respect."

---

There was also a party food buffet which officially opened at 9 P.M., with all kinds of party food associated with new years. One that was rather funny was the various crackers and different flavors of "squeeze cheese", with someone decided to create "cracker art", with definite mixed results.

The most popular party dish on the buffet was called "meat candy". It was simply cocktail wieners wrapped in bacon, drizzled in brown sugar, and baked in the oven. But their popularity, especially with carnivore Animalians, was so great that seven ovens stocked full wasn't enough to keep them from running out on a regular basis. Because of this, a sign that read "Only four per plate, save some for everyone." was placed in front of the dish of meat candy.

With 2018 over at midnight, and 2019 starting at the same time, everyone had a lot of fun, though there was considerably less alcohol and fewer noisemakers, especially because there were several younger and newborn Animalians in the Great Hall where the party was taking place.
