Consequences

added by Craut 5 years ago AR O Reality alteration

Dave ran over to his desk and grabbed a scrap of paper to write on. In a messy, panicked fashion he began writing the determining statement:

"I was born a beautiful baby girl and lived my life up till this point" with an unsteady hand determined to remove the monkey's paw, the pen bent the universe to it's will.

It was an almost immediate change; as soon as she blinked the change was made. She was shorter now, her wavy black hair fitted into a tight, business bun and a single lock hanging down to the right of he chin. Dianna looked down and saw she was put in a business woman's outfit, complete with heels and skirt. Two weighty, jeweled earrings hung from her ears and a necklace of beautiful, black pearls adorned her - though something was missing. Dianna would have fainted if she didn't feel so comfortable in her skin. She felt confidence in her slim and toned, yet curvy body; she remembered all of the modeling requests from agencies in her teens. The business woman relaxed in her chair and waited for Jenny to come. It was not a moment before Jenny swung the doors open with fury on her face.

"BITCH! You got me FIRED?!" Jenny was clearly a little peeved by her sudden firing - the manager couldn't blame her.

Once Dianna would've felt a little sympathy for this girl, but she was pushing it by barging into her office. "I didn't report anything, Jenny. It must've been a mistake." Her voice was still a beautiful and commanding contralto - but with a new, more eloquent tone.

"Bullshit Dianna! I fucking needed this job! Do you know what it'll look like on my resume?! I SPENT FIVE YEARS AT HARVARD TO GET HERE!" She was pulling her red hair, pretty fitting.

"Okay, girl, I understand. Please, sit down and I will help you through this, okay? We can get you a new job and change the firing to a 'lay-off'" Dianna had no idea if she actually had the power to do that - other than the obvious reality bending pen.

In any case, she opened a desk for a notepad and started clicking away at a computer, opening a chess game. Dianna smiled at Jenny, who was still a little stunned by the about face to her expectation - though behind the smugness Dianna felt something... Off. She knew she 'changed' from Dave to Dianna, but if she changed her sex retroactively then some things definitely didn't happen. She had a wife before she...

"Okay, thanks, Dianna. I'm sorry for what I did to you earlier." Jenny interjected with a resigned tone.

"I'm glad we can work something out. Now, what do you want to do in life? Why do you want to be a part of this company?" Dianna said with her best interviewer voice. As she finished she saw a couple of security approaching, so she waved them away and gave them a thumbs up. This helped Jenny relax, she had found her bearings. She re-adjusted her hair and sat in a more approachable posture.

"Oh... It's going to be one of those conversations?" Jenny asked.

"Yep." Dianna said before writing: Jenny is a seventeen year old intern and is an exchange student from France.

Within the blink of an eye Jenny went from well composed, confident business woman with six years of experience to a seventeen year old French demure student. She was shorter, as was the average height in France in comparison, though she had an overall similar appearance - other than the fact that she looked like a younger sister to Dianna. The idea of having a younger sister was actually pretty appealing, but Dianna decided against such a thing.

Jenny, in her cutie French accent, answered the question as such: "I want to see ze world, and get..." Dianna soon realized that the French accent was very heavy and difficult to understand, so she quickly wrote: Jenny is Californian and does not have an absurd accent.

"... rich." Jenny finished her sentence in a semi-valley accent that wasn't as offensively cultured. She was now back to her normal height, but her outfit was pretty business casual.

"Respectable goals, joining a media conglomerate is a pretty good start." Dianna looked down at her pad, very ready to screw over Jenny, but before she proceeds with such an action she realized that her wife was no longer her wife, and she never impregnated her... Dianna took a quick look at her left hand and saw a bare ring finger. A blocked well of sorrow and tears formed a pit in her stomach. Dianna killed her baby... It never had a chance to exist, and looking back, Dianna only had a series of short flicks instead of actual relationships. She never met Alyssa, and the thought of her only brought the realization crash further down on Dianna. Before the business woman exploded into a geyser of tears, she wrote in her notepad: I have perfect control over my emotions.

It was so, Dianna was perfectly capable, and the grief was suppressed. In this state of clarity, Dianna looked at Jenny. Instead of making Jenny's life set to failure, Dianna could maybe try to find some comfort in her?
