"Gribbit! Gribbit!" James protested his innocence desperately as Zarusta shot an angry glare at him but it was impossible for Kayla's father to translate his croaking.
"Very well" the old wizards eyes narrowed as he waved his arm ominously in James' direction "perhaps I should finish what my daughter started"
Suddenly, flies began to swarm around James' still human head. Delicious, juicy flies. Despite trying as hard as he could it was impossible to resist. He leaped up, stuck out his tongue and gobbled down one tasty morsel, then two, three, four....
"Oh father, how clever! That will teach him!" he heard Kayla giggle gleefully.
But still James couldn't stop, his hunger now insatiable. He could feel himself changing, his facial features shifting, the voices around him becoming more distant as he had to leap further to capture bugs that seemed to be growing larger and larger from his perspective. Until suddenly, they dissapeared.
"There" Zurusta scolded the average looking toad sitting on the floor in front of him as he scooped James up and placed him into a small tank at the side of the tent "perhaps a night like this will teach you to conduct yourself in a more gentlemanly manner in future."
"Just a night?" Kayla sounded anxious, James figured she would get into a lot of trouble when he was able to tell Zarusta the real story "but what if he tells people what you did to him"
"I doubt anyone would believe him" Zarusta laughed "And it would hardly be fair to leave him like that forever. Now come along, we have a performance to rehearse for"
The next few hours were pretty boring for James as he sat in the tank and waited to be restored. At least it was only one night he figured.
Early that evening, he heard someone enter the otherwise deserted tent. As the large figure approached he realised it was Kayla. She was holding a frog - another of her victims? As she placed the amphibian in the tank next to James and it ribbited blankly at him he quickly realised this had never been human. The next thing James knew Kayla's hands wrapped themselves tightly round him and lifted him out of his temporary home.
"Right James, you're coming with me" the witch grinned wickedly as she lead him away from the tent.
