While the pig was a bit more tied to negative forces, that didn't mean that the Lunar New Year celebration in Animalia wasn't as fun as other celebrations. There was just some adjustments to otherwise "standard" celebration.

Part of what made it interesting was the appearance of Ammy and the members of her council from Little Asia. While Bakugami didn't have any fireworks that were as amazing/over the top as Gandalf's, for example, they were still quite different from those in the West. The memory foam ear plugs that were common during Fourth of July were also present, much to the relief of many Animalians.
While Bakugami was traditionally depicted as being perched on top of a giant cherry bomb, the Animalian Bakugami carried it at his side, even if it was really a plastic container designed to look like a cherry bomb. He was not only the one responsible for setting off many of the "larger" fireworks, he was also in charge of the ceremonies.

The Year of the Pig Sumo Tournament was designed to not only be entertaining, but also dispel many myths and misconceptions about sumo wrestlers. But some myths were more surprising when they were confirmed to be true.
The Mister and Miss Year of the Pig competition was also different because it was less about physical/traditional beauty and more about strength and health. But that didn't seem to detract much from viewers, many of which were interested in the three pairs of breasts that all female pig Animalians had. Partly to draw away attention from this primary "feature" there was also a competitive bodypainting feature, which was also more about art than sex.

While Lunar New Year celebrations were officially celebrated for 7 days in some places and 15 in others, the "loudest" parts were celebrated for only three days in Animalia. But that was considered understandable, because Animalia often brought together both East and West, as it's sometimes known. The other parts could be considered "quieter", but as a whole, the Year of the Pig celebrations could be considered fun and educational.
