“Okay I guess.” Alex walks to the pile of clothes that reeked of the sweat of fear, piled upon each other. “I pity them… Wonder where they are now.”
“That I can’t really answer Alex.” He turns towards Sam, a forlorn look plastered on his face. You couldn’t help but feel the mood drop, you yourself mourning the loss of their sanity. “I’m sorry...”
All of the heads present bowed down, giving prayers to the lost. To hope that their souls could at least leave their bodies and escape from the torture. Even though even it was highly unlikely.
“It’s okay guys…” Jessie stumbles a bit on some of the clothing on the floor, turning towards what she assumes to be the general direction of you and your allies. There was a quiver in her voice, repressing her sorrow. “I’m sure… sure that we can get this fixed.”
However, it seems as if Jessie herself was unable to believe her own words. You wish, just wish that this darkness would go away…
Give some more hope. Some way that you would be able to shine some light on this darkness. To bring up the mood. To rise up again.
You inwardly beg.
As if your call was heeded, your scales shine once more. But its light was far dimmer than before, just enough to be a beacon in the darkness. Tears threaten to fall from your serpentine eyes, just happy to bring some relief to your friends.
“Thank you… Martin..” Sam sits down within range of you, your light shining off her own latex form, glossy and weathered. You sit as well, finding Jessie and Alex forming a semi circle.
Your tail unconsciously flows around all of you, finding its protection rather comforting. You see the weary smiles of Alex and Jessie, Sam included, break itself through the harsh reality you all now live in. They seemed calm, and you yourself felt...
Calm.
You give a hiss, a low, reassuring hiss. You look to each of them in their eyes, finding steely determination hidden beneath tiredness. Maybe, maybe they all just needed some sleep…
They sleep...
You rise awake from your dreamless sleep, finding yourself feeling just a bit better. However, something within you just screams that it hadn’t even been an hour since all of you went to sleep.
Well, not all of you. Jessie was using your tail as a makeshift pillow, conforming to her head softly. Sam herself didn’t really sleep. She stood upright, aware, but asleep at the same time. Some sort of rest but aware state?
Alex however lay sprawled at the end of your tail in deep sleep. He must have been dead tired. You give a smile at the funny posture he had taken while asleep.
“Well, time to wake them all up. Can’t have Tyson wandering off too far.”
Not hesitating, you gently shake Jessie awake, her blearily rubbing her tired eyes. Pulling your tail quickly from underneath Alex, you grin when he opens his eyes in shock before the cloth covered floor kisses his jaw.
“Oww, what the hell...?” Alex rubs away the slightly sore spot he had just received, also half awake. Sam simply opened her eyes, fully awake now. “That was uncalled for.”
You give a cheeky grin, laughing inside at your prank. Alex grins, no doubt having his own agenda. You somewhat falter, but brush it aside.
“We’re ready then?” Sam stands, awaiting her newfound friends' response to her call. She smiles when you and Alex also rise up, stretching and Alex somewhat unconsciously posing.
Jessie still lies on the covered floor, half awake, half asleep. You nudge at her with a claw, offering her a hand. She smiles with half lidded eyes, taking your hand with gratitude as you pull her up.
You turn towards Sam, her already walking to the exit of the store room. She turns to you, standing in line with the door, her slender form framed by the dim light seeping through the door. “So..., are we ready?”
