The Stone of Truth

Thousands of years ago, somewhere within the lakes and rivers of North America, a group of shamans we’re praying at a river bed. Well, they prayed a little too hard right then and their prayers were answered.

Unbeknownst to them, they were affecting a small stone in the riverbed and not their intended target of their village. The stone glowed a dark blue hue and was shifted around the rivers and lakes for millennia.

In the present, three college students were swimming in the riverbed. It had been an annual tradition to rent a cabin nearby and spend two weeks out camping. The middle of nowhere was enchanting to say the least. No one lived within 40 miles of the secluded cabin. Today was their first day.

The first of our boys was named Kyle. Kyle was tall, almost 6’ 5”. He was incredibly thin and almost always mistaken for a twig.

Next was Ike. Ike was much shorter, only about 5’ 8”. Don’t let his height give you sour first impressions, he was an avid wrestler. He was ranked nationally in his weight range. He was muscular and strong with his powerful body easily cutting through the water.

And finally, there was Trevor. Trevor is the focus of our story. Trevor was the happy medium of the two, although he definitely leaned towards Kyle. Trevor was exactly 6 feet, thin (but not skin and bones), and a semi-good swimmer. He was also very sarcastic.

Trevor dove under the water, which was surprisingly clear. He shifted through the bed, looking for anything interesting. He lifted a rock and something blue shot out and hit his chest. He scrambled for the surface.

The other two were swimming some distance away, and failed to notice. Trevor treaded water and stared at his chest. Imbedded in the center was something small and blue. He looked like a bootleg iron man.

It surprisingly didn’t hurt. But Trevor couldn’t remove it. It was lodged firmly in his chest.

He decided to show his friends. He swam over to them as they exited the water.

“Hey you two,” he said once close enough. “Look at this thing I found.”

He gestured toward his chest and the two guys looked at it and laughed.

“Is there supposed to be something there?” Ike asked.

Trevor was dumbfounded. Couldn’t they see it lodged in his chest?

The group began the journey back to the cabin. On the way back, Kyle picked up a brightly colored flower.

“I’ve never seen something colorful like that,” Ike said.

“I bet,” Trevor said sarcastically. “I guess you must be colorblind then.”

“Well I am,” Ike said back seriously. “Don’t make fun of me for it.”

Trevor was confused. Ike wanted to be a graphic designer. He wanted to work with colors and was very uptight with how they matched. How could he suddenly be colorblind?

Trevor suddenly noticed the Blue Stone on his chest glowing. It stopped shortly thereafter.

Trevor has a hunch. The boys had moved to the subject of arms (Based on how huge Ike’s were).

“I wish I had arms as big as yours,” Kyle said.

“But you have four that are just as big as Ike’s,” Trevor said hoping his hunch was correct.

Kyle turned around and nodded. Suddenly two arms punched their way out of Kyle’s shirt. His existing arms quickly inflated to the huge size of their wrestling friend. The looked almost comical on Kyle’s thin body.

The two boys continued to talk as Trevor went almost light headed with excitement. He had so much he wanted to do.

The sun began to set as the three boys entered the cabin.
