The woman hugged a jacket around her skinny frame and brushed hair out of her eyes.
"Take my dog, will he?" The woman kept muttering to herself as she clutched at a worn leather collar and leash. "I'll get him back!"
She had seen the address on the dog's tags and instantly memorized it.
She would need to plan her next move. She could handle the boy if she could avoid attracting the attention of the police. She kept muttering and scheming on her walk to the bus stop to await a ride back to her home across town.
Oh, yes. She would get her dog back, and no stupid kid would stop her. She had plenty of time to think of her plan as she waited for the bus. By the time the bus arrived, she had the beginnings of her next move.
