The thought of seeing this woman getting collared and taken away seems slightly poetic at first. After all, she's the one who turned you into a cat girl in the first place. Why stick your neck out to save her from these...whoever they are. It takes you all of a second, though to remember that she's probably the only person who could conceivably change you back. It's not as if the local community college offers Magic 27-A: Introduction to Transmutational Studies. You are about to watch your changes of fitting into a pair of men's jeans again get collared and presumably hauled off by a group of men who think that gangsters actually wear fedoras and black suits with roses pinned to the jacked (yeah...they went that far). Without thinking thrice about it you charge forward, grabbing a mallet from the Test-Your-Strength booth, giving it a firm yank to dislodge it from the flimsy chain attaching it to the machine.
"Hey!" a carny calls out, but you ignore him and charge towards the three men and the cat girl. You yell a pathetically lame sounding battle cry and swing the mallet in a circle, striking the slender individual on the small of the back. At first you're afraid the collar will land on Briana's neck and snap closed anyway, but she manages to pull her head back far enough to avoid it. She follows by lifting both feet and kicking the man on the chest, sending him stumbling back on the dirt.
"Mistake, kitty." one of the thicker men says, grabbing her behind the head with his ham hands. You waste no time in spinning around with carnival mallet and striking the goon between the shoulders. As the man turns to you you see his eyes are yellow with a narrow slit for a pupil. Cat's eyes? Brianna manages to squirm free of the two goons and calls at you to follow her before you and think any more about it. You turn around and bolt faster and more gracefully than you thought yourself capable of, tossing the mallet to the carny from earlier.
"Sorry!" you call out to him, and scoop up the cash box where you dropped it without thinking.
"Where's the book?!" Brianna calls out to you.
"What?" you call back, slowing your run slightly as you talk.
"There was a very old, very important book under the stand, tell me you grabbed it before you left!"
"You didn't say anything about a book!" you say, your run slowing to a stop along with hers.
"I told you to stay put!" she says furiously.
"Obviously that would've been a bad idea!" you counter, pointing your thumb back the direction you'd been running from. She growls in frustration and charges off again, saying she's got to find the book. It seems to you that whoever these guys are, they're definitely going to start looking for her at a big booth called "Kitty Kisses", but she's too far ahead for you to caution her. An angry voice behind you tells you that the suited men have recovered and will be upon you quickly.
You have to make a decision:
