Mike arrived at the academy with his suitcase of luggage and the basic things like clothes and toiletries. He didn't pack alot as the program advertised providing clothes for most of the week ,except for the first couple of days, and food will come at certain points in the day.
Mike arrived to the main lobby and was given a card with the Alpha sign on it and a key to one of the rooms. Mike headed up to the room he was a signed to and opened the door.
Inside, he saw another man a few years younger than him "Hey, I assume your my roommate." The man asked
"I guess so?" Mike responded "I'm Mike btw."
"Hello Mike, the names Kyle." Kyle friendly shook Mike's hand at the exchange in names
Mike and Kyle talked to each other for a while, sharing friendly gestures and conversations. They also spoke about why each of them are here at the academy and what they hope to get out of it.
At one point, Mike brought up about the card they got on arrival "So hey Kyle, I don't know about you but I got this white card with the Greek symbol alpha on it." Mike then shows the card he got
"Oh that. I asked a worker and it's meant to be the group your in. I got one with Beta on it but as far as I'm aware the group's are Alpha and Beta." Kyle answers.
"Hmm, so we're split into groups. I wonder why?" Mike questions
"I'm unsure. Whatever it is, all I know is each room always has 1 person in group Alpha and 1 in group Beta. You can ask the workers but they don't say much either." Kyle responds
Mike and Kyle pondered about it but continued to talk to each other. They noticed how every door in the academy except for the main entrance has small flaps for dogs to go through, even on their dorm door and toilet room, and how they haven't seen any dogs at all on the academy grounds.
During there conversation, the speakers for the entire school were turned on and a woman's voice came on "Group Alpha, please head to the Main field. Group Beta, please head to the study hall." This rung out for the next 2-3 minutes.
"Guess we've got to split up." Mike told Kyle as they finished there conversation.
"Yep, see ya later today then." Kyle responded
Mike and Kyle went their separate ways and went to their designated areas. Mike arrived to the main field and and saw other people in Group Alpha.
The instructors handed out athletic uniforms for each of them to wear and asked them to go into separate changing rooms. The uniforms in question were pretty standard gym wear for boys, a tracksuit, while for girls it was yoga pants and a jacket.
They told Group Alpha that they were going to do some laps around the field to get some exercise before they put them with dogs. They used the excuse that it was to see if you were fit enough to deal with dogs and whatnot.
As they were doing laps, Mike was jogging alongside a woman. She had a somewhat ok body and brunette hair tied into a ponytail. Mike decided to strike a conversation.
"Hey, the names Mike, how are you?" Mike asked in a friendly tone.
"I'm good thanks. My name's Janet if your wondering." Janet responded to Mike's introduction and they started having a conversation
They talked about several things including their roommates, the accommodation etc. They also talked about why they're here and what kind of dog they want so it was quite a friendly conversation.
After a few dozen laps, it was getting late and the instructors told the group to stop. The instructors then said it was time for dinner so Mike, Janet and the rest of the group walked off in the direction of the cafeteria.
The Cafeteria was quite cosy with many tables for the people here. Mike was still talking to Janet as he was heading to the Cafeteria and he saw a table with Kyle and woman that Janet recognised as her roommate.
"Charlotte!!!" Janet called out as Kyle and The woman presumably Charlotte looked towards Mike's direction.
"Janet, Hi. And who's the man your with?" Charlotte responded
"This is Mike. He's in the same group as me." Janet explained
"He's also my roommate." Kyle butted in
The four sat on the same table chatting about things. Mike and Kyle learnt that Charlotte and Janet were sisters who came to the academy together.
Eventually food was distributed and the people in Group Alpha got a beef stew while Group Beta got egg fried rice. Charlotte and Kyle enjoyed their rice while Janet and Mike noticed how odd the Beef stew tasted.
The four of them eventually finished and started talking about what they did for the past few hours. Janet and Mike talked about how they were doing laps around the Main field while Charlotte and Kyle learnt about dog behaviours and they had to take a quiz.
After an hour, it was time to head back to dorm rooms and they all went of in their separate ways. Kyle and Mike arrived to their designated room and they each had a last exchange of words.
"So Kyle, did you see any dogs today?" Mike inquisitively asked
"No, I asked Charlotte earlier and she hadn't seen any either. I assume you asking that meant you haven't seen any too." Kyle responded
"Yeah. You'd think that it being a dog obedience camp there'd be a couple hundreds of dogs." Mike said
"You're right. But don't think think too much into it." Kyle told as he drifted off to sleep
"I guess you're right." Mike thought to himself as he soon followed in Kyle's actions "I wonder what tomorrow has in store."
