Hilarity and Headaches

added by makutamon 4 years ago O

While Ling (and Mr. Hyun) were working with Ling's acclimation classes, a member of the PR-MD office was showing both of them files that both of them found funny, but not before explaining what the office was about.

"Many people have misconceptions about Animalia and it's citizens due in no small part to reading and/or watching only R-rated materials and thinking that what they read and/or watch carry over into Animalia. But what also helps those misconceptions along are the internet hoaxers. A fine example of this is when an artist creates a dragon to showcase his work for someone, then the hoaxers take that video, use video editing software to snip off the parts they don't need, then showcase it as a real, but dead, dragon that was found at a beach or desert somewhere."

"I've seen those kinds of things." confirmed Mr. Hyun, "Those can be extremely annoying."

---

"... but sometimes those headaches result from things our office can't easily explain." said the office member, pulling out another file. "This one actually comes from Australia. Our converted Thylacines, Ben and Tyree, were visiting Uluru Rock as one possible site for a wedding when they encountered an aboriginal Australian tribe there. To Ben and Tyree's surprise and slight discomfort, when the aborigines saw them they acted like their gods had returned to them." At seeing Ling and Mr. Hyun's confused look, he continued, "They started crying, kissing the ground, and similar displays of ritualized worship. Now I don't know if thylacines were really revered by the aborigines, but you never can tell with the ancient, pre-Christian religious beliefs, especially those who didn't have European contact until relatively recently. But one such result from it is the fact that the Australian Colony, while still on the table, is going to be the first two-part colony. While one part is still near the Great Barrier Reef, as originally planned, the other one (for desert-based Animalians) is near Uluru Rock, for 'respect' toward the aborigines."

It wasn't just annoying things that were shown to both Mr. Hyun and Ling, there were also funny things, mainly about humans showing off to potential bondmates and failing in hilarious ways.

"This guy thought it would be a good idea to climb up a stairwell without using the stairs, mainly by bracing their hands and feet against the wall." said the agent, showing them the clip. "This one is taken as exhibit A of the old saying 'What goes up must come down.'."

The next one was even more amusing than the last one, since it was Heather scaring away a would-be Juliet from Jeremy, partly because it was entitled 'Jurassic World Live!'. The comment on it by the PR-MD agent made it even funnier, "Ah, alcohol and lust. An easy $10,000."

"One of the most recent headaches for Animalia was the fact that somehow, I don't know how, the Animalia Virus became known as a cure for homosexuality, even though that's not how it really goes." said the Agent later, after some more amusing clips. "Ever since, Animalia has been receiving gay and lesbian couples from places as far away as Turkey and Ukraine. While officially it's a diplomatic 'outreach' program similar to the United Nations, we believe, rightly, that they're actually sending us their gay and lesbian members to 'deprogram' their homosexuality, even though they're denying that as the reason. What's really going on is that their feral 'straight' instincts are surfacing and they're becoming afraid of losing an important part of themselves."

"So what's really happening?" asked Mr. Hyun, making a mental note to send to North Korea what really was going on.

"What's eventually happening is that they will become bisexual. The Homosexual Anonymous program is not to deprogram homosexual couples, but to help them accept their growing bisexuality." said the PR-MD agent.

"I always hate it when people make assumptions that simply aren't true, no matter what they are assuming it about." said Mr. Hyun, writing everything down word-for-word so it wouldn't cause any confusion when sent to North Korea.

"The most recent example was a male homosexual couple who not only converted to cure their herpes, but also became two separate marine creatures." finished the PR-MD agent, "While we can't reveal their original names, they are legally changing their last names to have greater ties to the ocean, even without their most recent purchase of ocean blue leather. I have a pretty good idea what they intend to use with it, though it's not my business to check."

---

While there was plenty of things with Animalia that North Korea would have mixed feelings about, there was enough to approve of to allow Ling to stay in Animalia for the time being.
