As much as Bryan wished to move again, to fly away from the smelly, messy cow patty, the insect mind wasn't having any of it.
The tiny fly lifted its limbs and began methodically cleaning them, also using its mouthparts to do so. At the same time, a shadow blocked out the sun as a cow entered the barn. The sun returned as the huge bovine moved closer to the tiny fly's location on the ground.
"Move now!" Bryan demanded, but the fly ignored him.
The cow lumbered closer, and Bryan's turned his faceted eyes on the enormous brown and white creature. He worried about the hooves, but the cow stepped around him.
The fly remained placid and unconcerned, but Bryan was clearly alarmed at sharing the immediate vicinity with such a much larger creature. The cow appeared to lumber past, which did give the transformed youth some reassurance.
Until, without warning, the cow's tail flicked up and to the side. In shock, the tiny fly watched as the cow dropped a massive load of manure... right towards him!
