Not all Animalians were as eager to celebrate Mardi Gras as the rest. This didn't just apply to Animalians with personal opinions like Adi. Some converted Animalians just didn't get what this holiday was about. For instance, the Five Elements were having trouble wrapping their heads around Lent and they didn't really see much point in celebrating Mardi Gras.
The one exception was Huoxing. The red panda was clearly the most fun-loving member of the group. She didn't really understand Lent either, but she did like a big party. So she decided to follow the words of a particular cartoon rabbit, 'I don't ask questions, I just have fun.' She certainly picked a costume that matched the festive spirit. Her jester costume had a lot of bells that rang as she danced, jumped, and flipped about. It didn't really cover a lot of her, considering it consisted mostly of gloves, shoes, crop top, short shorts, mask, and a jester hat. Still, Huoxing got a lot of compliments for it. She just wished she who this 'Harley' they were comparing her to.
Huoxing did get one rather unexpected compliment. "You should think about entering the cosplay contest," said Shyra, who was dressed in a suitably flashy Mardi Gras costume.
"Cosplay contest?" asked Huoxing.
"It's going to be part of the Spring Festival," said Shyra, "Apparently Clara has decided to have it like a comics convention this year. Something to do with some old, valuable comics being found."
"But what's cosplay?" asked Huoxing.
"You don't know? Well, I would have thought you had by now," said Shyra, "Cosplay is dressing up like particular characters to show off."
"What, you mean like we're doing now? Or with Halloween?" asked Huoxing.
"It's a bit more specific than that," said Shyra, "People dress up as characters from particular TV shows, movies, and comics. Something they're really big fans of."
"I'm not really sure if I could join that contest," said Huoxing, "I'm not really a big fan of anything."
"Oh, I'm sure there's something you like enough that you can dress up for it," said Shyra, "Maybe get your sisters involved."
"I'm even less certain about them," said Huoxing, "I have absolutely no idea what they'd want to do."
"Well, there's no big pressure," said Shyra, "I'm sure you girls get enough attention being martial arts superstars."
"I know we're big celebrities, but are we really superstars yet?" asked Huoxing.
"Your stars are still rising," said Shyra. Huoxing gave her a confused look. "Oh, ignore that expression. You're well on your way. You girls should just focus on having fun at the Spring Festival."
"I'm always up for a fun time," said Huoxing brightly.
"That's what I like best about you," said Shyra.
