“Rexie,” Lilith said quietly. The injured imp glanced over at Lilith, a defiant look on her face. Rexie wasn’t sure what Lilith would do. She had not wanted the imp to accompany her inside yet she had refused the order and followed anyway. If Rexie was being honest with herself she did not care, Mia needed to be saved just as much as Jack and Kellie.
“Let me guess,” she grumbled. “Your pissed I didn’t listen. Well that’s too bad, I wasn’t going to let anything happen to Mia.”
“Yes,” Lilith replied. “But I understand, I would of done the same. We protect our family. No Rexie I wish to thank you and offer a reward for your actions.”
“Reward,” Lexie asked. Lilith nodded, waving her hand. “Yes Rexie,” she said. “I may be the mother of demons however your actions have helped in saving my son. Go now and talk with your niece, she will remember you not only as you were but as you are now.”
Rexie’s eyes went wide as he turned to face the young girl who was rubbing her eyes. “Uncle Rex,” she questioned. “What, What just happened? You just saved me and why do you look like that?”
If the imp had been capable of crying it would of burst into tears. Instead Rexie launched herself into the waiting arms of her niece. “Mia,” she exclaimed. “You..you remember me, are you okay? I was so worried about you.”
“Your uncle is a lot stronger than you might think,” she smirked. “I’m just happy your okay, I was so worried.”
“I’m okay,” Mia smiled. “But what happened to you? Why do yu look like that?”
Rexie looked over her impish form, smiling. “Kind of found a new job,” she said. “And to be honest really enjoying myself. But here maybe this will put you more at ease.”
Mia watched in awe as Rexie now began to shift into her human form. The imps body grew as the reddish color became fleshy. The broken wings of the imp retracted into her body as her hair went from white to platinum blond. Finally the teenage girls body began to form, gaining slight curves and perky breasts. “How come your a girl now,” Mia asked.
“Well kind of helping out the boy who was with you,” Rexie said. “He’s a...friend. He kind of needs my help with something and he gave me a lot of power to do it. Only thing I had to do was become a teenage girl. I know it seems weird but if it wasn’t for my new powers I wouldn’t of been able to help you.”
Mia nodded as she now gazed at the punky teenage girl in front of her. While she knew Rexie to be her uncle, she was still a bit confused. She had been kidnapped by a strange looking monster and found herself slowly transforming into a baby fox. She had been so frightened and unable to do anything until her uncle attacked the fox monster. Looking at Rexie with tears eyes the girl threw herself onto Rexie, squeezing her tightly.
“Thank you,” she sniffed.
“Your welcome Mia,” Rexie sighed happily. “I’ll never let anything happen to you.”
“You know,” Mika said, looking at Katie. “For a bunch of evil demons, they actually seem genuinely care for people.”
“Yeah it’s throwing me off too babe,” Claudia sighed. “Guess blood is thicker than water, or evil, or whatever. All I know is I need a shower. All that fox blood ruined my clothes and it stinks like hell.”
“Thank you guys,” Katie said, hugging her friends. Mika and Claudia could only grin as they hugged their longtime friend. “Welcome Katie but you definitely owe us.”
Kellie had watched Rexie reunite with his niece while her daughter and her friends now breathed a sigh of relief. The battle had been brief but intense, the group had worked together and saved not only her but Jack as well. As she looked at her father she could see the worry in his eyes. “You going to be okay their dad,” she asked.
Merlin was quiet as he looked at his daughter. “I am happy your safe,” he whispered. “But I do worry about the future. This may have been only the first salvo in an extended war. Our enemies may just increased dramatically.”
“They won’t dad,” Kellie said, taking her fathers hand and squeezing it tightly. “Jack and I kind of worked out an agreement, I don’t think we’ll have too much to worry about from them. Now as far as the Kitsune I don’t know.”
“I hope your right,” he said quietly. Kellie smirked, giving her father a reassuring hug. “Trust me dad we’ll be okay,” Kellie said. “But, you and I pull talk about giving the others magic like me and the others. I think it’s time we had so more magical allies.” Merlin nodded, Kellie had a point. Katie, Claudia, and Mika from the other timeline had proved invaluable, however, they would not always be there to help. Perhaps giving a couple of the girls magical items of their own would provide enough protection in the months to come. Merlin now stared out towards the woods as he hugged Kellie, they may have defeated Morgan but may have dragged themselves into a broader magical conflict. Regardless Merlin would have his hands full for quite sometime.
