Vinnie glared at the jockstrap that he thought was Ryan. He had tried everything he could to change Ryan back. He had found an old book at the public library that he was sure hadn't been there before. In fact, when he went to check it out the librarian had commented that it wasn't in the computer system. It had an old card in the pocket that was stamped OCT 31, but the two digit year was smudged beyond recognition.
"It must've been missed, when we computerized in the eighties, doesn't look like it's been checked out since then either," said the librarian entering it into the computer. A bar code tagged printed out, and was pasted to the book. "Bring it back in 3 weeks, Vincent," said the librarian scanning the barcode with her red laser reader. BING.
Vinnie was certain that the book held the answer to Ryan's transformation. He randomly opened the book, and the first thing he was the caption at the top of the page, "ULTIMATE SPELLBREAKER".
Then he read, "The Ultimate Spellbreaker will break any curse, spell or enchantment within 100 feet to 100 miles radius of the caster depending on the caster's innate magical abilities. Warning it will break all spells and curses, but that does not mean it will restore the cursed person or object to their former state. For example, if someone were transformed into a China Doll, was broken and glued back together they might end up human with a scar or separate body parts with glue on them or an animated doll or a human sized animated doll. It is impossible to know the exact outcome. Also unintended punishments may be undone, and there may be consequences if the caster accidentally frees someone cursed by a Coven or Council of Supremes. So use caution before invoking the power of this spell.
Vinnie didn't know of any Covens or Councils of Supremes, and he just had to get this behind him. He still didn't know how he cursed Ryan or why he couldn't change the jockstrap back, so he figured he'd be in the 100 foot category, and wasn't too worried. He should have been.
At Noon, as Ryan hung in Cy's basement. Vinnie looked at the arcane sigil he had copied on to his bedroom floor, all eight candles were lit, the bowl was in place. He stepped into the circle surrounding the sigil, and recited the arcane language. He didn't know if he was even pronouncing the words correctly. A dark cloud appeared over the city blotting out the noon day sun. He took the two foot long willow twig and lit it with a candle, and then ignited the ingredients of the bowl. Thunder cracked. Lightning hit Vinnie's house. The dam 50 miles away that had miraculously not collapsed in the flood two years ago crumbled. Fortunately, only a foot of water flooded the nearby town, as they had been in the midst of a drought. Miss Spellman's engine fell out of her car, and she suddenly felt her 210 years. Someone had broken her spells. She fumbled in her purse for her store youth spell. Kit Thomas groaned in pain, as he grew from a 60 lb dog into a naked man inside the animal carrier at the airport. Spells curses for nearly a hundred miles around were shattered.
In Cy's basement, Ryan felt suddenly heavier. He was falling. His feet hit the floor. Feet! He was human! Vinnie must've done it! He wanted to shout for joy
