As Maddie now stood admiring her renewed prom appearance she heard her phone vibrate on the nearby nightstand. Curious the teen now approached, surprised to see it was Lisa texting her.
"Maddie," it read. "Gloria thinks she left a very important ring at your house is it there?"
Maddie had completely forgotten about the ring as she now picked it up. "Yeah I have it," she texted. After sending the text Maddie was surprised to see her ph ok ne ring, Lisa was calling.
"Maddie," Lisa exclaimed over the phone. "Oh thank god. Is everything okay? I was so worried when I got Gloria's text."
"I'm fine," Maddie responded, slightly taken aback by Lisa's tone. A long pause now lingered as she could hear Lisa breathing on the other end. "Maddie has anything....weird happened."
Maddies eyes went wide as she quickly glanced at her teenage appearance. "Umm define weird," she said sheepishly. An audible groan on the other end of the phone seemed to tell Maddie that Lisa had an idea about what had been happening to her. "Okay listen," Lisa said quickly. "I'll be right over. I just have to get a sitter for Lynne. Whatever you do Maddie DON'T make any wishes."
"Okay Lisa sure," Maddie said.
"I'm serious," Lisa said sternly. "Listen, I know this is going to sound crazy but if, something weird has happened tonight, dont fix it. I'll be over as soon as I can. Just stay where you are and dont make any wishes. In fact if your holding the ring put it down."
Maddie agreed, placing the ring down as she now hung up her phone. "What does Lisa know about all this," she mused. "Does Gloria's ring explain what's been happening to me?" Gazing at the ring Maddie rubbed her chin thoughtfully. It seemed incredible yet it would explain how she had suddenly become a teenager once again.
Over the next 15 minutes Maddie now paced back and forth as she gazed at the ring. She was still only 17, she thought she should change her age back yet Lisa's phone call had spooked her. Was the ring dangerous? As she now heard frantic knocking on her front door she cursed under her breath. "Well better get this over with," she sighed.
Making her way to the door, Maddie couldn't help but feel like she was meeting a prom date. Anxiety, excitement, and nervous energy flooded her body as she approached the door. Opening it she could see a nervous looking. "Oh crap," she sighed heavily.
"Hey Lisa," Maddie said nervously. "You um, want to come in?" Lisa nodded, trudging inside as Maddie closed the door. "So I take it you used the ring," Lisa sighed.
"Yeah accidentally," Maddie mumbled. "I didn't even remember having it until you called. I um, had some fun."
"Kinda noticed," Lisa smirked. "By the way, love the dress."
"Thanks," Maddie said happily. "It was my prom dress. Havent been able to fit it in years." Lisa chuckled softly, shaking her head as she looked at the teenage girl. "Well you look like your ready to be prom queen," she smiled. "Now, wheres the ring?"
Maddie pointed upstairs as the two now ascended the stairs. As they walked Lisa apologized if Maddie had been freaked out by the age changes. Maddie dismissed it, as frightening as it had originally been as time passed she really began to enjoy herself. Lisa of course couldn't help but laugh softly. If anyone knew how much fun it was to be a kid again it was Lisa. As the two entered Maddies bedroom she pointed towards the nightstand.
Lisa picked the ring up, sighing in relief before looking at Maddies bedroom. Numerous outfits seemed to be strung together while the womans bed appeared quite messy. Turning she could see Maddie blush as she rubbed her neck.
"Yeah about that," she said sheepishly. "Kind of turned into a 10 year old and well....just couldn't resist jumping on the bed."
"Love doing that too," Lisa laughed. "Last time I turned into a kid ended up making a mess of my room too. Jason was curious why his side was so lumpy."
As the two women laughed again Maddie could only shake her head. "So how is this possible Lisa," she asked. "Magic," Lisa shrugged. "I've had a bit of experience with this kind of thing. Actually its usually harmless fun."
"I can see that," Maddie answered. "Kind of figured it out and had some fun."
Lisa smiled impishly as she bow rubbed her chin. "You know," she smirked. "Jason won't be back for a bit. I can tell Gloria the ring is safe and sound so we can have a bit of fun."
Maddie grinned nodding her head as Lisa now sent her daughter a quick text. As she picked up the ring, she now looked at the 17 yea old in front of her. "So Maddie what should we do?"
