"... I'm also a Moeru Ryu....." Mei forced out.
"... A what?" Jamie asked.
"A Moeru Ryu." Mei answered, "A clan from the region of Shikoku."
"Clan? Shikoku? What does any of that mean?" Mona asked.
"Hold on... Shikoku? As in Shikoku, Japan?" Jamie asked.
Mei nodded as the other girls looked at the elder blonde sister.
"What? My uncle was deployed there." She explained.
"Wait, your Japanese... and your group is a clan... are you a ninja or something?" Cailin asked.
"Yes. My grandfather was born into a ninja clan. He trained me in secret starting when I was mugged at thirteen." Mei explained.
"You got self dense classes from a Ninja?!" Jamie asked.
"The Moeru Ryu are long forgotten in our land's history books, but in it's heyday, the were one of the most respected among the clans. Masters of ninjitsu, jiu jitsu, aikido, bōjutsu, battōjutsu, bajutsu, and kyūdō, their ideals are built upon discipline and loyalty..."
"Enough with the damn history lesson! Get to the fuckin' point!" the black driver yelled.
Mei sighed.
"I was sent to Japan and made a clan member on my 18th birthday. I'm in debut to them, and scouts have reported seeing ships full of 'bimbos' heading for large, sea adjacent cities... like Tokyo and Nagoya." Mei explained.
"I see...." Mona said, "They want my father's serum...."
"Yes." Mei replied.
"My plan was to trick you girls into taking a plan to Japan, and fake a crash landing in a forest outside of the Moeru Ryu's hideout where we would be 'jumped'. I would have fulfilled my duty to protect the clan, and we could hold ourselves up in an old temple currently being converted into a fortress."
Everyone just looked on in betrayed disgust.
"You don't understand.... those involved in the serum's production once I get it there... they aren't exactly employed by the law..." Mei said.
"Yakuza?" Mona asked.
"Huh?" Jamie asked.
"The Japanese mafia..." Mei replied. "... if they fail to receive the samples... they'll kill them.... they'll slaughter my entire clan..."
"And how does this affect us?" Mona asked.
"My grandmaster's plan is to take the serum once they can reproduce it, and distribute it around the world... for goods like food and medicine."
"And if the Japanese Gangstas keep it?" the black man asked.
"They will keep most of it for themselves, and only give samples to the highest bidders." She said.
Everyone just stood there in silence.
"I know, I betrayed you, and you are unwilling to go with me. I understand...." Mei said with a bowed head.
She began walking away, showing them she had two samples in her possession.
