As soon as the TV warmed up, a bright colorful heart-shaped logo popped up on screen with stars and glitter popping out from it, with a title appearing in a silly, cartoony soft body fashion reading, "Celestial Guardians: Cat Boys of Love" And shortly after, began showing off its literally colorful cast of Japanese style cat boys in a typical anime fashion.
Even though Kyle was the only one strongly familiar with anime, Holly was not so much, only seeing a few magical girl cartoons when she was too young. Regardless, she was open to trying new kinds of shows.
"Whoa! I don't think I've heard of this anime before! Is it a new one?" Kyle says excitedly, having been secretly a fan of the magical girl genre since he was a teenager.
"I have to admit, it's so colorful it almost hurts my eyes!" Holly says with a chuckle, half kidding as she did have to squint a bit at the overwhelming lights. "And I'm pretty sure they're supposed to be cat 'boys'. So why are they in dresses...?" she continued, noting in a bit of an awkward realization that all of them were clearly wearing what appeared to be girly mini skirts and streamers over their one piece leotards. In fact, all of them appeared to be of very lithe and feminine body structure despite being male.
"Eh, it's an anime thing. Sometimes they can have some really weird ideas, but they can still be fun nonetheless!" Kyle said, acknowledging the bizarre sight, but still keeping an anticipating mood.
From what the couple could tell, the story is about a group of magical cat bois who disguise themselves as normal senior high school students by day, while revealing their true feminine feline forms by night, fighting against the 'dreary villains' in their 'mundane rule' over the city. And by that, it meant they were using their magical powers to turn everyone into perky cat bois like themselves, vowing to free everyone of their boring, human forms.
It was definitely an odd premise, but it was somehow enticing to the couple, as they began watching the short 15-minute episodes one after another. In fact, they actually started to become enthralled with the show, even giving out the show's chant, "Celestial Cat Guardians Go!" whenever the characters did. It was also becoming apparent that with each episode, they cat bois' definition of 'fun' was becoming more lewd and sexual, even the being changed to show off their cartoonish tents in their leotards.
