What used to be my dirty brown hair turned golden and reached beyond my ears. My arms fractured and gave space for more length. Although, my height stayed relatively the same. The tentacles returned and my new form arised. My appearance is that of a youth in his early 20s. I got beefy arms and similar stocky legs.
A person with similar age to Phil wouldn't arouse that much suspicion. And it's been a while since I took on a strong youthful form.
At the dinner table, Phil was arranging the utensils. One plate looked new while the other was used more than a few times.
"Jesus!" Phil exclaimed. "Is that you Riance?"
I nodded.
"I'm still not used to this transforming thing of yours."
One thing I noticed in this house is the lack of other people. Namely, his parents. I asked Phil about my concern.
"They died."
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to."
"No. No. It's okay. It's their own fault anyways. Doing drugs and all. Anyway, here's dinner. It ain't much but I did my best cooking this."
To be honest, it isn't half bad. The steak is charred at some parts while raw in the other. But overall, not bad. As I gnaw on the steak, Phil could not help but prod me with more questions. I feel like he's trustable enough so I answered his question with minimal lies and half-truths.
"Do you have any family?"
"Not that I know of. And even if I have, they're probably dead."
"So where more or less the same huh. Well cheers to that."
We clinked our plastic mugs.
"Any more powers?"
"You don't get tired of that question do you?"
"Well, you aren't answering all of them."
"Okay. I'll show you my other powers. I don't use them much so there's bound to be some side effects. Don't say I didn't warn you."
