“Curiosity killed the cat,” said Roy as he chuckled, pointed the gizmo at the nametag on his work uniform, and pushed the button.
Nothing happened.
“Damn thing doesn't work,” grumbled Roy. “Figures it'd be too good to be...”
Roy abruptly stopped short when he noticed the NAME on his nametag had changed.
Moments ago it had read: “Roy Milford, Asst. Manager”... now it read: “Angelica Logan, Trainee.”
“Huh?” Roy said, squinting at the nametag and blinking his eyes.
He quickly inspected the rest of his work uniform. Everything else seemed normal. Next, Roy got out his wallet and looked at his driver's license. The picture was the same... but everything else was wrong! The license identified him as Angelica Therese Logan. And his date of birth had been changed. According to this, Roy was now fourteen years old? And although the picture clearly showed normal, male Roy, the license now stated he was female!
Roy put away his wallet and looked about the bedroom for other changes. He found a stack of bills on his desk... all of them addressed to Ms. Angelica T. Logan!
Nervously, Roy left his bedroom and wandered out to the kitchen. His roommate's girlfriend Sarah was at the stove, making some scrambled eggs.
“Morning Angelica,” she muttered. “Is Jack out of the shower yet? His breakfast is ready.”
“Uh... no, I... I'll go tell him it's ready,” Roy mumbled.
Evidently the device DID work. And by using it on his nametag, Roy had somehow switched names with that girl out in the parking lot. Then it dawned on Roy – if he wanted to undo this, he'd have to find that same girl again! Was she still outside or would he have everyone calling him “Angelica” all day long!
