A Fantastic Display

added 4 years ago O

... and the world came back into focus, the remote on the ground, Greta looking confused. Todd sighed, just glad he'd added those security features.

What really happened was Greta, in her fervor, had smashed the remote's activation button, causing a brilliant display of sparks, blinding Todd, hurting her enough to make her drop the device, but really nothing more.

It was disappointing to say the least, he of course expected her to try something, that's why the remote was keyed to his fingerprints, his DNA, but full psychopathic world altering from the get go? He'd let the biblical reference trick him into thinking she had a modicum of humanity, or hell, restraint!

He went to pick up the remote and was met by the croc's hand, gently touching his own, her face looking... well the closest approximation was apologetic through her wrinkles and scales. Her maw opening and closing a few times before she finally found the words "I-I'm sorry..." that hand squeezing his in a measure of affection. "I-I just..." she had a problem looking him in the eye, the rage having faded once she saw Todd's look of disappointment, replaced by guilt. "I've had a rotten life... I didn't mean..." she croaked, having a hard time explaining herself.

Todd felt no further malice from the croc and lifted the remote, inspecting the damage. Boy, she'd really destroyed the activation button, the hard plastic nub shattered, the opening on the face of the remote impacted. He picked little pieces out, discarding them. "It's fine, I get it." he'd had an inkling of creating a world-altering event himself, it was why he created the remote, Greta his test subject, but as every scientist knows, you don't jump from theory to conclusion. You hypothesize, you test and Todd certainly wasn't done testing. He mulled over tricking Greta back into her cage, turning her back into a normal gator, but in the end, it was a non-option. He still felt a kinship with her, a growing bond... and, after all, he had gotten a first hand test of the security measures on the remote.
Flying colors there.

"Just... maybe you don't have a taste of the apple." he said stuffing the device in his back pocket, Greta nodding, just glad Todd didn't hate her. "and... maybe we talk? That was pretty intense."
