Tim waved the weird wand about in the air a few times, hoping for a reaction of some sort.
He was not disappointed.
Although he lacked the years of scholarly study on the occult that Paul's crazy uncle apparently had, and was equally lacking in any natural magical aptitude to decipher spellbooks like Paul himself seemed to possess, Tim was able to see a visible trail of tiny, rainbow colored, sparkling motes of light sprinkle across the air as he waved the wand.
And he could have sworn he actually heard the faint tinkling of wind chimes as he gestured with the wand.
But that was it.
And it was all over almost before it had even begun.
“Did I imagine that?” he asked himself.
Tim looked down and began to check himself to see if anything had changed. Unfortunately, he was still wearing the clothing of Paul's mom – which likely meant he was still trapped in her identity.
“So the wand doesn't undo things the spellbook did,” Tim mused. “Then what exactly did the wand do?”
Just then the doorbell rang.
Even from way down in the Hodgson family basement, Tim could hear the bell.
“I'd better go answer that,” he grumbled, putting down the magic wand and then stomping up the stairs. “After all, I am the "lady" of the house now.”
As Tim opened the door, he was greeted with a most bizarrely unusual scene that confirmed to him the wand had indeed been magical – and was (much like the spellbook) highly prone to extremely strange misfires!
Because there, on the doorstep of the Hodgson family home, was Paul, Amy, and Melissa – all three of the Hodgson kids, very visibly themselves still – only different at the same time. Different in a very big way!
