Months passed, and the Donaldson family quickly learned they were trapped in the House of Doom. Although they were free to float from room to room (and now capable of passing through solid walls and floors), some strange force compelled them to remain within the boundaries of the house itself.
Initially, they entertained themselves by exploring every inch of the decayed, old mansion.
After a few weeks, that got old... and the family started to turn a little stir-crazy with the urgent desire to both leave the house and somehow return to the land of the living. As disembodied spirits, the family was unable to sleep, breathe, eat, or even taste and smell anything. Though they had no physical needs to eat, breathe, sleep, or go to the bathroom, the lack of these routine physical sensations was beginning to take its toll on the mental health of the family. Increasingly, they were all becoming more and more the hungry, ravenous ghosts they had always feared in horror stories. Each of them would do almost anything at this point to escape their living hell and become human again... or at the very least exact vengeance upon any living being who stumbled into their realm of power.
Then, one dark and stormy night several months later...
