"Don't get me wrong. I love my collar. But it works better on people than it does on other dogs. I haven't had another dog sniff my butt. And it hasn't really given me a dog's senses. So much of how dogs communicate is through smell, and I don't have that ability. I see a dog sniffing a fire hydrant or a tree and I know that they're learning so much, and it makes me feel like I'm crippled. And it makes it hard for me to play with other dogs. I feel like an outcast."
Meredith gave a sympathetic smile and patted Nikki on the head. "That's not all, though, is it?"
"No, it isn't." Nikki blushed. ""Sometimes, sometimes I wish I could have puppies."
