The May issue of Animalia Magazine not only talked about important historical events in May, but it also was the sneak peek at the upcoming IAC events. The most important "part" of the magazine was a removable map of the IAC events, which ones were colony specific, which part of said colony would host which events, and when such events would be taking place.

One new article in the May issue of Animalia magazine was about the Asian Animalian colony where the Martial Arts Tournament would be taking place as well as the inspiration for several things that others might find confusing.
One really surprising fact was the fact that the Asian colony now had an official name. Since the inspiration for the colony was the videogame Okami, it had been (eventually) decided to name it the Celestial Plain, or 天の平野 (pronounced Ten no heiya). While Chinese and Japanese would be referring to it by it's full name, they didn't mind westerners calling it Heiya Island.
As part of its association with the game, the central palace, now renamed to the Celestial Palace, or 天の宮殿 (pronounced Ten no kyūden) was where Ami and the other members of her "brush spirit council" would meet and debate about important things. These were mainly important historical events which they might have met and debated about before certain events happened, which were more like performance art than real debates.
Another part of that same article helped tie up everything together in the Asian Colony. From the game and it's sequel, to Asian mythology (both from China and Japan). For example, the reason there were two seahorse Animalians representing Yomigami, god of restoration, was the fact that seahorses were often thought of as baby dragons. While the sea snake Animalian representing Nuregami often spent most, if not all, of such debates soaking in a glass vase of water except for her head and shoulders was also a tie to the game, where Nuregami is seemingly imprisoned in a glass flask. The seat of the Monkey on the Brush Spirit Council, however, was different because there were three monkey Animalians occupying one place, both to represent the Three Mystic Monkeys and the Hanagami trio from Okami.

Because the IAC was taking place this year, an article was included that talked about the Olympics, both the ancient Greek Games, the modern rendition, and major events that surrounded each one. Some of the events were more surprising than others, as well as what myths originated from which games, and the truth behind the modern myths.
The one that was the most "popular" was the part of the article that talked about the ancient Olympic games. It was mainly about what those were really about and what events were and weren't part of todays' Olympics.
While it was no secret that Meg and Heracles were participating in the Games, specifically the track and field events and the Couples Bodybuilding competition, there were many who didn't know about what the Couples competition involved. Fortunately there was also an article that talked about what the Couples competition involved.

What was also no secret was that the members of Project Hermaphroditus would be taking part of the games for the first time. Because of this, there was also an article that talked about hermaphroditism, both in myths, in the animal kingdom, and in popular culture (although this last one was only available for 18+ digital editions). What was also included was where the information booths on Project Hermaphroditus were located at the IAC.

Because of the official Opening of Dinosaur City that was to be part of the IAC, along with their own games, there was an article that talked about the Dinotopians, as well as dinosaur myths that some people still believe and the truth behind them. What made the article extra funny was the fact that to demonstrate the scale for the larger sizes that Dinotopians needed for "comfortable accessibility" were pictures of average sized people set next to Dinotopian doors, furniture, and similar things for scale, as well as for laughs.
