Somehow, the Kitsunes accepted me as one of their nine tails, regardless of the fact that I was just a human who grew 9 fox tails. Well, the fact I had the magical powers to go with it probably helped. (And the meager powers gained from the two wizards who caused my change are a nice bonus.)
In six month I learned all I needed to control all the magic I gained, along with how to properly act as a member of the council of nine-tails. Wile I wasn't visited by Keru during all this time, the link somehow survived her assertion to goddesshood. She didn't use it to communicate with me, but it let me feel her comforting presence.
I accepted that we couldn't be together and that I probably never would see her again, but I hopped that she was happy in her new life.
I was totally unprepared for a man appearing out of nowhere and garbing me by my throat asking me what I did to prevent Keru from concentrating on her lessons on how to be a good goddess.
