Tad sat up in bed, stretching his arms out above his head while yawning. As he pulled the covers off his body and stepped out of bed, the young man couldn’t help but smile as he thought to himself about the events of the previous night.
After he and Amy had their “fun”, the two cuddled together and stargazed, making up constellations and stories that went with the constellations. Tad wasn’t sure what had started the whole thing, but he loved hearing Amy laugh at the strange things he came up with by looking at little lights in the sky.
As Tad opened his closet and pulled out a pair of jeans, his phone started to ring from his nightstand. Quickly moving to his dresser and pulling out a shirt, the teen rushed over to his phone to see who was calling him this early in the morning. He expected to see a phone number that he didn’t recognize, as Amy didn’t usually call him this early in the morning, but instead, he saw a name: Connor Ross.
Since Jeff had been a member of the Marines, Tad never stayed in one place for very long, so he never made many friends. That changed when the family moved to Quantico when Tad was 13. While there, Tad met a kid named Connor Ross at school, and the two became fast friends. For the next four years, the two of them did practically everything together.
However, after Lionel Ulysses killed Jeff Decker, Jen and Tad moved to Moon Lake rather abruptly. The only thing he was able to tell Connor was that they were moving to Washington to be with Jen’s parents. Since then, neither of them had talked to each other.
As Tad stopped reminiscing, he quickly picked up his phone and answered the call.
“Hello?” he said.
“Hey Tad! It’s Connor!” the voice on the other end said.
“No shit it’s you!” Tad said happily. “I saw your name come across my phone! How have you been?!”
“I’ve been good! Been a bit strange not being able to hang out with you after school though.”
“Same here…” Tad paused for a second. “So what is this unexpected call all about?”
“Well, my dad recently got promoted at his job!” Connor said excitedly. “He’s in the company’s Board of Directors now!”
“That’s great!” Tad said. “Tell him I said ‘congratulations!’”.
“That’s not all: since the company’s main facility is in Seattle, my family and I are moving!”
“Really?!” Tad said happily. “Dude, that’s awesome! I’ll be sure to visit you guys in Seattle once you get settled in!”
“Actually, we’re not moving to Seattle exactly,” Connor said. “Dad doesn’t want to have much of a change in lifestyle. He knows that houses in that area aren’t exactly cheap, and an apartment there most likely won’t house me, my mom, my dad, and my little sister.”
“So where are you moving then?” Tad asked.
“My dad bought a house in a small town outside of Seattle,” Connor explained. “I can’t exactly remember how far it is from the city, nor can I remember the name…”
Tad’s eyes widened. “Was it...Moon Lake?”
“Yeah! That was it!” Connor said excitedly. “Wait a minute...you didn’t…”
“I did…” Tad said, still a bit shocked.
“Dude...what are the odds of that?!”
“I don’t even know! Are you stalking me or something?”
“Maaaaaaaaaybe….”
“Okay okay, seriously,” Tad said. “When do you guys get here? I want to be able to greet you when you arrive!”
“Well, we left Quantico about 4 days ago,” Connor said. “I meant to call and tell you sooner, but I got a bit sidetracked.”
“You always do,” Tad joked.
“We’re in a hotel right outside of Spokane now,” Connor continued. “If I’m right, we should be there by this afternoon. Hold on a sec…”
Tad could hear Connor saying something to someone else, but he couldn’t exactly tell what they were saying.
“I just asked my dad, and he said we’ll there today.”
“Dude, that’s awesome! I can’t wait to see you!”
“Same here. Oh, I’ve gotta go. We’re going out to get breakfast. See you in a few hours Tad!”
“Not if I see you first!” Tad said before hanging up. As soon as he did though, Tad suddenly realized what moving to Moon Lake meant for the Ross family: Samantha Twist would go to their house to greet them and inform them about Moon Lake, revealing the were secret to them, and stating how one of them must become the family were.
“Maybe I could be there when she tells them,” Tad said quietly to himself. “I’ve gotta see the look on Connor’s face when I tell him I’m a werewolf.”
Stuffing his phone in his pocket, Tad quickly opened the door to his room and rushed into the hallway...almost running into his mom as she came out of her room. Jen jumped in fright as Tad stopped in front of her. She wasn’t expecting to see him up this early.
“Well...that’s one way to wake up…” Jen said.
“Sorry mom!” Tad said. “Didn’t mean to scare you!”
“That’s fine Tad,” she said, turning to walk down the stairs.
“Oh! Mom?”
“Yes Tad?”
“Do you have Ms. Samantha Twist’s phone number?”
