You're surprised to find a young girl burying her head in her arms on the bench inside the changing room. Her chest is heaving up and down and you hear a sob, quickly followed by a sniffing sound. Your heart melts as you feel sorry for this girl and you feel a need to help her, no matter what's wrong.
"Hey-!" you start, shortly cut off by shock at how high pitched your voice is. Evidently, your voice surprised the girl as well. She quickly sat up and ran a sleeve across her face, cleaning her tear-streaked face. She seemed to be wearing what appeared to be a school uniform. The girl quickly jumps to her feet and backs away slowly.
"D-Did you... put on a costume, too?" she asks, pointing an accusatory finger at you. Her wary behavior makes you slightly apprehensive yourself. Should you leave? Do you answer? Still feeling an obligation to help, you tug on your dress and respond, "Yeah, I put on this fairy costume. Why do you ask?"
Instead of responding, the girl instead dashes past you and quickly shuts the curtain to the changing room. "What are yo--" you begin before you're once again cut off, this time by the girl's finger making a quiet sign. "Keep it down, you don't want to alert her." Your paranoid is replaced by concern as you start to take to understand the situation.
"You've noticed it haven't you?" she whispers, words quickly coming out faster in nervousness. "You've noticed how you don't mind being a girl? Haven't you considered the oddity of the situation we're in." She casts a nervous glance at the curtain before continuing. "I don't know how long I've been in here. Weeks, I'm guessing. She's never content. She always asks for more: just one more costume, one more accessory." The girl slowly collapses on the ground, pulling her legs in, slightly revealing her panties. "Do you remember who you are? I don't know my name or where I live. Once you've given in, you're bound here. I try not to leave the stalls anymore, unless she gets bored." Her words fall to a close and she begins another round of crying, a quiet harrowing sob that sends shivers down your spine. You turn and put a hand on the mirror, looking at your new feminine self. Is it true? All your memories start to disappear?
You rack your brain for any words of comfort you can offer the girl, but you fail to find them. Apparently escape is impossible. Maybe you could bargain with the shopkeeper? As you turn back towards the girl to offer your plan, you're surprised to hear laughter coming from the girl. It starts like the sobbing, sounding hollow, but it quickly increases intensity until its a shriek of hysterical laughter, throwing all pretense of silence out of the window. You rush to hush her but she soon stops, standing up and clutching her sides.
"Wow, I'm really good at that. I knew I had been getting better." She smiles confidently, folding her arms and looking towards you. Now you're REALLY confused. "I'm sorry, what do you mean?" you question, disturbed by the girl's quick attitude change. The girl's eyes alight with an emotion you can't quite figure out. "I suppose you wouldn't know. My job is to buy." she says, nodding her head as if that settles the matter. Exasperated, you blurt, "You're making no sense. Buy what?"
"Buy time"
Wait, does she mean 'buy time' like as a... distraction.
*Thud*
You feel pain at the back of your head as you slump forward and hit the ground. The last thing you see before you lose consciousness is the girl, still smirking, and another figure beside her. At the moment, you're too far gone to figure out who.
