Goodbyes...for now

added by Lordbaron 4 years ago O
Author note:
I know it was quick but from here I will do each group's story one at a time and not jump around to minimize confusion on my part. Writing this, i have a greater appreciation of writers that can juggle multiple characters. Glory to Dan Abnett and his genius.

Freed, along with several others, waved to Vesper, Neisha, and Eva as their ship sailed out from the docks. It surprised everyone when Eva insisted on joining Vesper on his journey to Neisha's homeland.

"But...why," Vesper asked in bewilderment.

"Because somebody has to keep you safe," she smiled. "Plus I'm curious about this land Neisha talks about."

"I welcome you to join us Eva Greathorn and offer you the position of temporary guard until I am returned home," Neisha spoke up before Vesper could say more.

"I accept this task," Eva bowed and she boarded the ship.

As their ship disappeared from sight Freed turned to Dolph and Jack, "well we should be getting along as well."

"Sure," the cadet paladin shouldered his travel bag.

Jack winced slightly as he lifted his pack on his shoulders, but waved off the other's concerns about his back. "I'm fine! Just more sore than pain. Let's go."

"Not saying goodbye to the other's," Dolph asked.

"I talked to them this morning. Lelu is staying here to help her parents, Beverly insisted on traveling with a few fully initiated druids for training, and Vect and Sara are having their romantic goodbye on the skydocks above us somewhere."

"Wanna go crash it," Mai smirked mischievously.

"And risk pissing both of them off? No thank you," Jack shook his head. "Just let them have their moment, we've got a long road ahead of us." And the 4 of them headed for the north gate.

-The Absolute-

Vect waved to Sara as the ship ascended and turned to the east, to his homeland. It would take at least 3 weeks to reach their final destination if they had favorable conditions.

"Are you well my lord," Faral asked, putting a hand on his shoulder.

"Yeah, I'll be fine. It's not like its forever. No matter what, I will see her again," he smiled confidently.

-Skydocks-

Sara watched as Vect's ship slowly turned to the east, its finned sails flanking its green hull fanned out and it was propelled forward away from the city like a boat down a rapid river current. "Welp, I should get going too. I look forward to getting home."
Sara grabbed her pack and gripped the straps in her hands and unfurled her wings. With a simultaneous flap of her wings and push from the ground with her legs, Sara was airborne and headed for the western wall and her home. "Wonder how long it'll take me to fly home," she asked herself and tightened her grip on the bag straps when she felt it slip slightly.
