CYOTF (New)

Apprentice Sorcerer

Author note:
A simple test story to see whether my writing has rusted or not.

BONK!

"Argh!" Thomas shouted as he fell to the concrete, ears ringing from the impact. He heard footsteps running to him before they stop, realizing who they had injured.

"Hah! It's the sorcerer wanna-be Thomas!" A teenage stereotypical football jock mocked, his blond hair glinting in the sunset light. "Great catch with your head." He laughed, an obnoxious laugh that was soon joined with many similar others, typical jocks.

"That's enough Jason, leave him be." A girl spoke in his defense. Thomas looked to the source to see Rowena, Jason's cheerleader girlfriend. Said jock tsked, before turning. "You better not get mushy with her faggot."

As the jocks walked back into the now lit up field, Rowena helped Thomas up. He dusted off the dirt, inwardly upset. "I'm sorry Thomas but it's what he is like." Rowena held out a tissue, offering Thomas.

Taking it and wiping away the blood from his scratches, Thomas muttered. "Yeah probably had demon ancestors or something."

"Don't let him hear that okay?" She laughs along with Thomas', before turning to the field. "Best of luck and be careful okay?"

"Will do... thanks." Taking his bag, Thomas walked home.

By this time, night had already veiled the world once more. Streetlights and warding runes on the windows lit up the streets to his house, offering a semblance of protection. In this age of technology and magic many had been achieved.

Thomas glanced into an alleyway, seeing humanoid beings with horns.

Demons...

These creatures suddenly appeared into the world when the early testing with magic had gone awry, fusing the human world with the demon world. At first the ones that were found were docile and benign, human even.

But as time goes on so does formality. When the demons began living in the human world freely, some become entitled .

"Oi kid!"

Thomas looked to the source, seeing a muscular red-skinned demon approach him. His horns were sharp and intimidating, veins pulsing with angry red lights cracking through it.

"I'm a bit pent up you see? And I want to have release with you." The demon rubbed his crotch and Thomas saw the bulge hidden below the torn pants, disgusted.

"No."

First rule of any interaction with demons; Beware of deals and never simply agree to anything. Demons do not and can not give "favours". Every request is a deal.

"I wasn't asking." The demon roughly held Thomas' arm and pulled him up into the air, holding him above ground. Thomas' sight was drawn to his eyes, a hypnotic light dancing within the demon's orbs.

"As do I." Thomas slapped the arm holding him and a clap of light exploded as Thomas found himself on the concrete once more. He quickly threw a line of charged salt, an impermeable barrier erecting and knocking the demon back.

"Fuck!" The demon shouted as his arm burned. He glared hard to Thomas, surprised that his magic didn't work. The other demons behind him walked up to the barrier.

Second rule of any interaction with demons; always be prepared with wards. Even a simple enchantment can save your life.

Thomas took out a string of wooden prayer beads, slinging them around his arms. "I've never actually used these against demons, and I've took these knowledge from different schools of magic online."

A string of ancient words were chanted and the beads flared with a white aura. "I suggest you back off before I use a crap ton of anti-demon techniques and find your true name."

The third general rule of any interaction with demons; if you discover their true name, they become your servant.

"Tch, fucking brat." The demon turned into black mist, red eyes glowing before all three of them disappears.

Thomas sighed, letting the glow of the beads die down.

"Thankfully I didn't have to test out all these magic, because I myself don't know their actual effects yet."

Thomas continued his walk back to his house, unaware of the red eyes watching from the rooftops.
