Monica stood outside of the bathroom, waiting for Damon to dry off his tail change into a human again in private.
She still couldn’t process what she heard from Damon. For years, she dated him and had no idea what he was a merman, let alone a prince.
Monica felt her breaths getting faster. She had all these plans for marrying him and having kids, it’s likely all out the window now. How could she possibly compete with other mermaids, let alone handle life as underwater royalty?
Damon soon opened the bathroom door and looked back towards Monica. “Come on, let’s go. We’re going into a beach.”
Monica followed Damon and the two traveled to a private beach that had nobody around.
“Are you sure this is a good idea, Damon? It’s late and someone could be out any minute now.”, Monica questioned.
“Yes, this is where I first came to the surface for my mission. It’s kingdom property, so there’s no need to worry about intruders.”, Damon replied.
Monica looked at the beach’s water and saw sparkles coming out of it. Her eyes widened at the sight, it looked magical.
“It’s beautiful, isn’t it? This water has the power to turn humans into merfolk right around this time.” , Damon spoke.
“Really, magical water?”, Monica questioned.
Damon chuckled. “You can believe me being a merman and being a prince of an underwater kingdom, but not this?”
Monica looked at herself in embarrassment but giggled as well. “Yeah, I guess right now my suspension of disbelief is a bit… off, to say the least.”
Damon nodded and put his hand on her shoulder. “It’s okay. I know it’s been tough handling all of this.”
Monica smiled. “It’s alright. I’m honestly excited to see what your home is like. Now, just give me a minute to change.”
Damon closed his eyes and looked away out of respect.
“Okay, I’m done!” Monica said.
Damon turned to see his girlfriend in a bikini, her clothes her put away neatly on the side.
“So? How do I turn into a mermaid?”, Monica asked.
“Oh, you just out her legs and feet in the water and stay there. It’ll feel a bit weird, but you’ll get used to it.”, Damona answered.
Monica nodded and dipped herself in the water.
The water felt warm, really warm. But it felt nice on her skin. Monica said there for a while but didn’t feel much of anything.
“I don’t get it, what’s taking so-” Monica’s question was interrupted by the sensations happening around her legs. The water then bubbled like a hot tub around her as Monica looked in surprise.
“Good. You’re doing well. Just a little while longer.”, Damon said as he swam next to Monica.
“Damon…”, she asked her now-merman boyfriend, “What's the water doing to me?”
“The water has magical properties that activate around this time of day. Right now, the magic is changing your DNA and making it more similar to the DNA found in fish.”, Damon replied.
“Oh my... I didn’t know it was changing my body this closely. Thank goodness this change doesn't hurt” Monica said, noticing she couldn’t separate her legs anymore.
Damon smiled and brushed his tail against her fusing legs, he could feel scales popping all around her lower body.
“It’s coming along nicely, too.” Damon mused. He could sense that her body was very eager to change into its new form. It was only a matter of seconds until the transformation was complete.
The sensations became warmer and warmer until the bubbling finally subsided and the strange feelings on her legs stopped. When everything was over and done with, Monica looked down to see a marvelous sight.
In place of her legs was a beautiful long scaly fish tail. Monica was full of awe as she spoke her next words. “I’m… I’m... A mermaid! I’m a real mermaid!”
Monica was now a mythological creature, just like her boyfriend.
Damon swam next to his girlfriend and put his tail next to hers. “So… How do you feel?”, he asked.
“I feel… Wonderful! This is amazing! Thank you so much, Damon!” Monica said as she hugged Damon.
Damon returned the hug and kissed Monica on the cheek.
“Come on, Monica. Let’s go to my home. I think you’re really going to like it.”
The two let go of their embrace and dove down to see Damon’s kingdom.
