Naomi paced the living room, considering what she should from here. There was something exciting about the possibilities. She could turn herself into an animal. What would that be like to see the world from an animal's perspective.
But that could also be dangerous too. Like what if one of Polly's scales were put in there and she found herself flopping about as a goldfish on the floor gasping for air. She shivered at the thought. Ultimately, she needed to be careful about this. She needed to reach out to someone she could trust if she was going to use the flask again.
She paused, listening to the continued yowls and scratches from the bathroom door.
And maybe it would be for the best that Steve was left out of the equation for not. She still needed to do something about him in the meantime, because it sounded like he was doing a number on her bathroom door.
She walked over and knocked on the bathroom door. "Steve?"
There was a feline hiss in response.
"Steve. I'm going to open the door, but you're gonna have to promise that you're not going to scratch me. This is just as weird and scary for me as it is for you..."
There was a meowl in response to that.
"OK. Maybe not EXACTLY as weird and scary for me. Still, if I'm going to figure this out, I could do without you being a jerk about this. Now. Do you agree to be calm if I let you out? Then we can figure this out together."
A long silence from the bathroom, followed by a small (perhaps begrudging) meow.
"I'm going to open the door now."
Naomi slowly opened the bathroom door and a tuxedo cat trotted out, his steps rather slow and unsteady, as if he were still figuring out how to move on four legs, which very well could be the case. Consider the actions of Polly-as-a-cat, Naomi figured that all the necessary locomotion information came along with the form right away. Steve sat in front of Naomi, mewing up at her plaintively.
She couldn't help giggle in response at the thought of her jerky ex-boyfriend being reduced to a mere housecat and being so darn cute. This did not amuse Steve, who put on an expression of feline huffiness.
A meow sounded from the bedroom, Naomi looked to see Tessie curiously stepping out before honing in on Steve, circling him before giving a curious sniff. Steve meowed and jumped back from Tessie, giving a hiss, back arched. Tessie just cocked her head to the side.
"Play nice, Steve. Tessie is just checking you out. She seems to like you a bit better like this." Steve relaxed, though his tail twitched about as Tessie neared and gave him another curious sniff.
Naomi was impressed at how alike the two tuxedo cats looked. If she didn't know better, she'd say that Steve was an exact replica of Tessie, right down to the white markings on his muzzle down down his front. Maybe the liquid didn't just copy the species, but copied the recipient of the sample completely. Which, in a way, was very good. It just meant that Naomi needed some of Steve's hair and she'd be able to fix this and...wait, if made someone a replicate, did that mean. Naomi walked around the two cats, giving Steve a closer look.
She covered her mouth to muffle another giggle.
Steve turned her way, eyes slanted, as if to ask "What's so funny?"
Naomi debated whether she should say, not as if this would make Steve any happier about the current situation. "Steve. Don't be mad, but I thought that you had been turned into a tomcat. You know, a male cat. But, upon looking at you closer, you miiiiight be a closer copy of Tessie than I previously thought."
Steve's eyes widened and flopped to the side, moving his head back to investigate his backside, specifically around his...or rather...her tail, finding certain things to be missing, before giving another MROWL! The cat then leapt up, hissing at Naomi, swiping claws at her leg.
Naomi jumped back and frowned. "OK. That's enough of that." She quickly took Steve by the scruff of her neck and lifted the cat up off her feet. Steve hissed and flailed her claws about, but unable to manage to either bite or scratch Naomi before being played into a pet carrier, door latched into place behind her.
"Guess I need to give you time to calm down again. I don't know why you're so mad. Maybe you'll be less of a jerk without your dick distracting you." Naomi fumed, pacing in a circle. "You know, I need a walk to think this through. You better have a better attitude when I get back or I think that 'Tessie' is due for visit to the vet." She left the apartment, still annoyed at Steve, trying to calm herself to figure out the next course of action.
