Being a young hippie is interesting, but ending up as a deer doesn’t seem like a good idea. Just a few times mounting the doe has aged you a couple of years at least – you look more 17 or 18 than 14, curious looking and a bit homely as your features get more buck-like. But in order to change, you have to find the Barber again. He sure won’t be set up in the woods here. You find out there is a small town not far from here that a few of the commune members go to for things they cannot get in the woods. Medicines, some food items, and even mail gets picked up once a week.
The battered old pickup truck is about to make the regular weekly run, and you hop in the back. Nobody stops you, and after a glance back, the driver shrugs and heads out. The back of the truck has crates filled with vegetables from the gardens, some crafts, and collections of flowers for trade. After a jarring ride through the woods to the main road, you settle in for the short drive.
A few people stare as the truck chugs into the town, but you are mostly ignored. When they park in front of the general store, you hop out and start looking for a Barber Shop. It takes a few startled looks from others for you to remember that you are a shaggy, filthy, part-stag boy who also happens to be stark naked.
A couple of local teens come over to you, crew-cut and dressed in overalls and boots. Local farm boys, you guess. They look about your age, lean and muscular. The blonde one grins as he looks you over. “I think we got some wild animal in from the woods here, Caleb!” Caleb looks you over and the reaches down to grab your sheath. “I know a buck when I see one!” You stiffen in more ways than one, but do not resist. “You been screwin’ the does, stag-boy?”
You nod. “Yeah, but I don’t want to turn into a stag, so I want to find the Barber.”
That seems to throw them. “You want to go to a Barber?” The dark-haired teen looks incredulous. “Shee-it, boy! I’ll pay for that haircut myself!”
Caleb nods. “Yeah! Come on, nature-boy! We’ll take you to see a barber right now!” He lets go of your sheath and grins at the erection. “If you clean up good enough, we can have some fun afterwards.” He nods to the other boy. “Whatcha’ think, Cory? He’d be way better than one of the sheep.” Cory chuckles. “Maybe we should take him to the beauty parlor instead?”
They are already moving you down the street. Caleb has no issues about groping, and one of his large hands squeezes your butt. Your eyes widen, and you feel the building need to have sex. Will the barber be here in this town? What will happen if another barber cuts your hair?
The small barbershop they take you to only has three chairs, and you do not see the Barber – at least not yours. A couple of older men watch with amusement as you are directed inside by the two redneck boys. One of them chuckles and says “You dragging in business off the street, Caleb? Don’t look like he got pants to put money in, much less any cash.”
Cory says “We’re gonna pay!”
“Yes, you are.” A familiar voice comes from the back and you see your Barber coming out with a smile. The other two men look confused, then glassy-eyed , then nod and move behind their chairs. The Barber looks you over. “So, I take it you want a fresh look?”
You nod. “Yeah, I don’t want to end up as a deer.”
He nods and then smiles at Caleb and Cory. “You two fellows get a free trim on the house! Take a seat!” Then he points to the remaining chair as the two rednecks happily sit down. He spins the chair so you face the mirror – it is startling to see the wild boy with matted dark hair so clearly. You look so different from the crew-cut boys on either side of you. The Barber leans down close to your ear and whispers “Do you want them to get the same cut you do and be triplets, or let them get trimmed up different?”
