The girls wiped their faces and tossed their garbage in the can beneath the tray, rushing down the stairs to meet the families that would finally get them out of here. Philicia paused briefly, but ran down the stairs as soon as she heard the bark of a dog.
"Hmmm-mph. You've outdone yourself, Geraldine." the head mistress told herself. "Time to get these kids of out here."
The girls cheered and ran as they adults came in for their interviews.
Every single one was a big success.
The girls moved out by two and threes, the place emptied out by the end of the week.
Geraldine pumped her fist in the air as Philicia became the last girl with a new family.
"Time to blow this joint." Geraldine said, "But first... a little me time."
The magic woman treated herself to a rose petal spa bath.
"Ahhhhhhh... rest at last...." she smiled.
Her tranquility was interrupted by the ring of "her" smartphone.
"Talk to me." Geraldine smiled as she talked.
"Yeah I got the whole place adopted out, no biggie... uh-huh.... yeah huh.... wait what?"
She heard the beep of a car horn and peered out a window into the street below.
Outside was a whole van full of girls smiling up at her.
She waved to them before pulling the blinds down and groaning.
"One last time, Geraldine... one last time." she told her reflection.
While Geraldine prepared to dole out some more adoptions, the girls were adjusting to their family lives.
Let's follow one of them.
(Note: Not all of these families were the best choices for these girls)
