Something had been bothering me about Joey and the way he was acting since he got the ring. The way he kept on transforming people without being transformed himself was kind of creepy, like he was playing god and the rest of us were his little toys. He had told me there was no way for anyone else to get the ring off his finger, and I believed him--I would have made the same wish. But if the halter worked on humans. . .
It would be taking a huge risk, but I figured if it didn't work I could pass it off as a joke. When the crowd around Rachel had begun to disperse, I led her outside and took the halter off. She seemed a little dazed and tired but basically OK. I then went to find Joey.
Here goes. I came up behind him and threw the halter around his neck.
