... begins to laugh.
"Hon hon hon, you silly children." She chuckled with a bit of French arrogance thrown in. "I do not know how you got zis, but I will have to hold onto it until after zee class."
Rebecca wanted to protest but she knew how strict Madame Beaumont could be. She shut her mouth and sadly hung her head as her teacher walked around the corner towards her office. Eleanor Beaumont loved her students, but was slowly losing patience with them. Tina was more focused on her looks than dancing, Vicky was too ruthless towards everyone often stifling the lessons, Georgia was far too shy, and Rebecca was always distracted by things that had no relation to the lesson.
She walked into her office with a sigh. Her office was barren, very spartan-esque, for this very purpose: to leave the chaotic world of children for a while. She walked over to her neatly packed desk, taking a seat in her comfy chair, and threw the camera onto the desk. She rubbed her eyes, trying to think of someway to get her students to work harder but she didn't know how. Her thoughts, however, were interrupted by a strange noise.
Eleanor looked up to see that the camera was leaning slightly up in the on some of her papers. She moved it over, but in doing so accidentally took picture of herself. The flash blinded her in a n instant, causing her to yelp slightly and rub her eyes profusely. She felt a little bit of vertigo as she felt something inside of her change but she couldn't tell what. Her mind grew fuzzy as she opened her eyes.
She found herself unable to concentrate on who she was, or what she was doing there. She looked up at the desk wondering why its size should be odd to her when the door to the cluttered and colorful office opened. A cute 28 year old women with bright blonde hair in a bun and a leotard walked in with a giggle.
"Elena Banuelos, there you are! Now what on Earth are you doing in my office?" She asked cheerily.
The little Mexican American was puzzled. "Why did I go in Ms. Sophie's room again?" She wondered to herself confused. As if it were suddenly implanted in her mind, all of her memories flooded back in an instant.
"Oh, lo siento, I'm sorry Ms. Sophie. I just wanted to see this old camera of yours." She explained.
"Well, of course you could see it honey. But it's snack time right now, so why don't you go back to your friends and I'll keep that safe until after class, alright?" She asked, to which Elena reluctantly agreed.
Elena walked out and quickly found herself back in the main room, and her friends Rebecca, Vicky, Georgia, and Tina sitting on the floor eating fruit. They all waved at Elena and gestured for her to join her.
"Why did you go into Mr. Sophie's office again?" Vicky asked bluntly.
"Well, I disagree with her teaching." Elena explained.
"Ugh, not this again." Tina muttered.
"Yes this again!" Elena yelled.
"Elena, Ms. Sophie's classes are fun, why do you keep looking for boring stuff?" Rebecca asked.
"Because I want to learn stuff." She responded, becoming frustrated. "Like, Ms. Sophie spends too much time on not dance stuff."
"What do you mean?" Georgia asked.
"Well, like snack time is really long, and sometimes we sing... and.... and stuff like that!" Elena yelled pointing to Rebecca's doll.
"What? Emily hasn't done anything wrong." Rebecca fought back.
"Yeah but it's dance time, not play time. Give it!" Elena yelled as she tried to pull the doll from her hands. Rebecca yelled as the two girls tugged for a minute. Just then, Ms. Sophie walked back in with a look of horror on her face.
"Girls, girls! What is going on?" She yelled.
By this point, almost everyone was near crying. After a few minutes of eased tensions, Ms. Sophie figured out what was wrong. She always knew Elena had a bit of an older soul but this was too much. At the same time, she was right in that Rebecca shouldn't bring such things to ballet class. After a slightly awkward continued lesson, Ms. Sophie brought Elena and Rebecca to her office.
"Girls, I'm disappointed in you two. You should be nicer to one another." She explained.
Rebecca and Elena both held their heads down in shame as they listened.
"Now, from this day on I want nothing but nice thing between you two, understood?" She asked.
The two children nodded which made Ms. Sophie smile. Ms. Sophie grabbed the camera and told the two to look up.
"Believe it or not girls, one day you're both going to become beautiful young women, and when that day comes I want you to look back on your youth and smile. So, I'm going to take you picture, just to be able to show how far you've both come. So, say cheese!" Mr. Sophie smiled, as she raised the camera towards a not so happy looking Elena, Rebecca, and Emily the doll. Emily, being the only one still aware of any changes, squealed with delight internally as the light flashed.
