Damon sat on the seaweed bed and felt comfortable. The bed felt warm and cozy against her smooth red scales. As she enjoyed the feeling of her lower fish body, Damon looked around Prince River’s room and took in the sights.
Prince River’s room was huge. The grand walls had large detailed paintings of mermen fighting in a war, marine animals roaming around the ocean, and a portrait of Prince River himself holding a trident. Alongside that, a nearby desk next to the bed contains a small mirror and books of royal etiquette and history of the merfolk. The room was an intense sight for Damon’s eyes, it certainly reflected the type of merman Prince River was.
Damon felt a bit embarrassed, her meager room apartment on land seemed so modest in comparison. Other than a few posters and a few unread books, Damon’s apartment was otherwise sparse in its looks to keep the landlord happy. Damon wondered if she truly lived a fulfilling life on land.
The mermaid was deep in thought when she heard the bedroom door open, revealing to be Prince River as the one who opened the door.
“Come with me, Dana. My parents would like to meet you.” Prince River said gently.
Damon nodded and swam with Prince River to the way to the throne room. As Damon looked around the palace, she was awed at the golden and sapphire walls that shimmered the palace in a wonderful shine when exposed to the sunlight. Stone structures of weapon, aquatic monsters, and mermen in armor stood proudly. Damon felt small in being in such a regal castle that took every detail to appear as powerful and dazzling as possible.
Prince River looked to his side and saw Damon staring around his home with a hint of nervousness. The merprince smiled and laid his arm on Damon’s shoulder, “It’s a lot to take in. Is it not?”
Damon looked back at the merprince and nodded as she took a small gulp.
“Don’t worry, Dana. My parents are eager to talk to you. Everything will be fine.” Prince River leaned forward to kiss Damon’s cheek. “You’re going to okay, Dana. I'll make sure that nothing happens to you.”
The mermaid looked at Prince River and leaned forward, trying to calm herself down and laying her head on the merprince’s body. Damon let out a sigh and closed her eyes, letting herself relax to this situation and fight against the nervous fatigue.
Prince River understood and stopped his swimming to let his newfound interest rest for a while on his body. The merprince gently laid both of his arms on Damon’s back and kissed her as he embraced the mermaid in his arms. He stroked Damon’s long blonde hair and smiled as he whispered to her ear.
“I promise you’ll feel at home here.”
