It is late to the end of the 21st century and a recent surge of unimaginable discoveries have managed to change perspectives of many old stories around the globe over various creatures considered mythology.
these were findings from archaeological digs uncovering remains, first in grease before dutch then England, that were at first assumed to be mixed but thanks to the recent advances in DNA confirmed entire collections...
...more proof was through using biotechnology to reproduce what was seemingly a house skeleton's DNA through a surrogate process and the result was unmistakably a unicorn but without the powers other then amazing speed (140 mph the unicorn, codenamed: Remmark, capped at) and immunity to a number of diseases that were easy horse killers.
It wasn't long before demands for many of these now no longer mythology creatures to be restored in almost every country and quite a number of laboratories went ful throttle into pleasingly these demands (most just for the cash but there were those doing so simply for the challenge or personal interest). though arguments and sabotage between various parties in the mix eventually required a strict means of control in ensuring both safe creatures were created and no DNA lost.
That was when Magicconus took centre stage buy recruiting various personal from the prior labs (through warrants, appealing to the right senses of the recruitees and sometimes having to bail out scientists).
At the same time Magicconus took a nutritional stance in the international stand, accepting grants and such from all over the world but not refusing even the tiniest offers their requests that matched. and depending on morals it was the highest their getting the 'Lion's share' so to speak.
Their were issues with some restorations however. those of the physically half-human kind like merfolk, centaurs...even Styres and Harpies... no methods of surrogacy could work to restore them and their were arguments from a number if governments that races that could match humans in intelligence could have economic consequences without safeguards...
..but Magicconus found a method that allowed a very acceptable safeguard and in some ways counteract the still growing population problem. By turning people into these un-surrogate styled creatures. While at first refuted Magicconus assured they would only follow strict guidelines:
1: all races being considered must be tested by staff first
2: any underage person being transformed must be accompanied by parent or legal guardian also going under the process
3: the legal age of the transformed when given a choice is based on the laws of their citizenship country (in mixed cases the higher number limit)
4: that while those with criminal records can be transformed, there records will follow them (courts also cannot force a transformation as a punishment)
unsurprisingly outside the governments millions of people came forward willingly to become their dream selves. thankfully ahead of time Magicconus had arranged to build transformation stations across the planet to handle the requests (usually about 150 at a time)
