Smiling mischievously, Roy targeted Mr. Sanchez and the Rag Doll carried by little five-year old Elena Sanchez.
Again, without any fanfare reality was instantly changed.
Where Raoul Sanchez had been standing, there was no longer any sign of an adult male. Instead an adult woman stood there, dressed like a rag doll! She had bright red hair, tied up with blue ribbons into two long pigtails on either side of her head. She wore a short-sleeved, blue dress that barely reached her thighs. Lacy white trim lined the hem, and a crisp clean white apron went across the dress. She wore red and white striped over-the-knee socks, and had a pair of shiny, black leather platform heeled Mary Janes on her feet.
Roy glanced back at little five-year old Elena who was now clutching a dull-faced, stuffed plush toy in the shape of Raoul Sanchez.
“Let's go everyone!” chirped the rag doll in a silly, happy, singsong voice.
Roy watched in silent amazement as the soldier and rag doll walked, arm in arm down the corridor and out the front door with their two children happily following behind them.
“The toys are now the parents and the parents are now the toys,” muttered Roy. “This crazy gizmo is incredible!”
