Moodern problems require moodern solutions

added by EmirDelta 4 years ago A

Spying the front door, you consider dropping your plan and making a break for it. The problem is, once you got the front door open, what next? You could go to your house next door, or you could run around looking for help, but finding someone you can trust to try and help you and not just run away, and then explaining to them what you need without being able to talk is too much of a risk. It's only mid-day, so you should have plenty of time before Curtis gets back from whatever it is he does for a living, but you can only guess how long you have until the glove finishes it's work and makes all of this permanent. You decide it's \best to play it safe and stick to your plan, and walk off to search the nearby rooms.

For the second time in a row, you have a bit of luck. You only have to search a couple rooms before you find what you're looking for: your clothes! Curtis has carelessly tossed them on the floor of his laundry room. Sure, none of them fit you in your current state, and they're ripped to shreds from yesterday's changes anyway, but you're not really looking for the clothes. You kick your pants pocket and breathe a sigh of relief when you feel your phone in there. A couple of careful nudges later and you get it grasped in your claw, and walk back out to the kitchen where you have more room to maneuver.

Without being able to talk, your phone is your best bet to communicate. Plus, you've got a friend who lives a short drive away, and he works from home. If you can text him and use the phone to explain what's going on, you can have him change you back and get out of here before Curtis comes back. You carefully lift the phone up to your hooves so you can set it down on a table, and let out a sigh of relief once it's safely laid flat. That's the hard part over! You reach down with your hooves and give your phone a few taps, but nothing happens. You try to tap a few more times, increasingly frantically, but the phone screen doesn't respond. The battery light is on, so it has a charge, maybe it needs something pointier? You bend over and try to peck at the phone with your beak, but that doesn't help either. Slowly you realize what you didn't plan for: smartphone screens only register contact with skin, and your hooves and beak simply won't work.

With nothing left to do, you try to get up and take your chances with the outside world, but you only get a couple inches off the ground before you find your udder is finally too full to move with. Your legs tremble before you fall back down with a soft plop. Your teats leak just a little bit of milk from the movement, which you try to ignore so you can stay focused on the task at hand. This can't be where your plan fails! If you'd just gotten caught or didn't make it out in time, that would be one thing, but being locked out of your own phone is just too frustrating. You try using your elbows, but the pig flab hanging from your arms makes it impossible to actually control where you're tapping, and you'll never get a message out that way. If only you had some part of you that you could tap with that was still... flesh... wait. You look down again at your teats. Wouldn't that work...? Ignoring the insanity of the situation, you sandwich your phone between your hooves and lower it down to your udder. The phone is cold and uncomfortable against your teat, and you miss the first few times, but it works! You manage to get the phone unlocked, and you get out a message to your friend, Pedro. Sure, it takes the better part of a half hour to do it, and you send several messages of complete gibberish first, but you manage to send "Emergency at left neighbor horse came immediately", which you hope is clear enough. Now you just have to wait for him to see the message and explain the situation to him.
