“Mom” Patrick knocked on the door to her mother’s room. “It’s almost 10AM.”
“Just a moment, honey” Janet answered back. “I just finished my new costume. About a minute later, Janet stepped out of her bedroom wearing the outfit she had just created using the amulet. It was a purple top with long-sleeves with a gold colored skirt, a pair of purple high-heeled boots and a white cape. On her chest was a golden star. A brilliant tiara adorned her head.
“How do I look?” Janet asked her son.
“You look great, Mom” Patrick enthusiastically answered back.
Janet looked down at Patrick and noticed his own clothing. “Aren’t you forgetting something, young man?”
“What’s that, Mom?”
“Your own uniform” Janet told him. “You can’t go into outer space wearing that. Your cloths would burn up in no time”
Patrick felt slightly embarrassed. He rushed to his own room at superspeed and returned a few seconds later wearing his own special outfit. It was a simple blue one-piece suit with a red cape.
“OK, Patrick” Janet said. “Let me carry you”
“Mom, can’t I fly alone?” his mother asked.
“You’re not ready to fly in space by yourself” Janet replied. “Maybe in a few years”
“Alright” Patrick said as he jumped on his mother’s back. Janet rushed to the secret tunnel in her basement and within mere moments she effortlessly escaped from Earth’s puny gravity. Starwoman (Janet’s new superhero name) looked behind her and saw Earth’s solar system rapidly vanish as she cruised at about a hundred light-years per second.
Mom, can’t we go any faster? Janet/Starwoman heard her son’s voice inside her head. She was confused for a moment before she remembered that they could telepathically communicate with one another.
Not until we leave the Milky Way, Patrick. Starwoman replied mentally. Within ten minutes the two were in the void between galaxies. Starwoman stopped and turned to see the massive Milky Way galaxy fill her vision. Even from this distance she could see the planet Earth. Her attention then turned to a group of galaxies about 60 to 100 million light years away. Hang on, she telepathically warned her son as she accelerated towards her destination. She felt a surge of joy as she crossed the intergalactic void at well over a trillion times the speed of light. After about twenty minutes she saw a large elliptical galaxy to her side. She only needed a slight adjustment to her course for her to approach it. As she neared the chosen galaxy she began to decelerate. Within another ten minutes the two entered the galaxy.
Ok, Patrick. Starwoman called to her son. You help me find a planet. The two looked around them with their superhuman vision.
Mom, I found something. Patrick exclaimed.
What is it? His mother asked.
