"Dog"
Kayla smiled and took a step back as her suggestion began to take effect. James quickly fell onto all fours with his hands placed flat on the ground in front of him. He was trying desperately to retain his dignity, he knew he was still human after all, but he was powerless to resist the witches spell.
"Ruff! Ruff! Ruff!" He tried in vain to protest, shocked at the sound of the only noises he was currently able to communicate with.
Kayla held her hand to her mouth to stifle a giggle "Come on, don't be like that. I think you'll make a wonderful pet doggy for me. In fact, there is a dog show on at the fair this afternoon. I think I should enter you into it to show you off to everyone!"
"Ruff! Ruff!" James protested in vain.
"Oh, don't be embarassed" Kayla mockingly reassured him "To the rest of the world you are a beautiful labrador and with a human mind you will be the cleverest doggy of all. We have to win! But..."
Kayla examined her fingernails as she spoke "How about we make this interesting?"
"Ruff!" James didn't like the sound of this.
"If you win, I will remove my spell and you can be on your way. You can even have half the prize money"
"Ruff!"
"If you don't win but place, I'll turn you into a real dog, so you can practice for next year"
"Ruff?" James panicked. A real dog? For at least a year.
"And, I'm sure this won't happen, but if for any reason you embarass me and don't place in the top three at the show I'll have to punish you by turning you into something icky for the rest of your life. Let's say, um...oh I know - a toad!"
"Ruff!?!"
"But don't worry, I'm sure that won't happen, even if there are loads of amazing dogs in the show with much more experience than you!" She paused thoughtfully for a moment then suddenly sprang back into actiom "Right, lets get started, you have a lot riding on this right?"
