Laurel looked at me quizzically. "What are you thinking about?"
"Oh,nothing," I replied. "Now that I’m an adult again, I must say, you are quite the babe," I added with a smile, hoping that would change the subject.
The doctor turned away. I could only see a corner of one cheek, but it was bright red. "Please don’t say that."
I put a hand on her shoulder. She turned to face me. "Why not? It’s the truth."
She cast her hazel eyes downward. I could hear her start to gently cry. "No, it isn’t. You only think I’m attractive because at the moment, I’m only eighteen." She
snuffled back a tear. "If you saw me at my true age, you would think I was positively hideous."
I put my arms around her waist. I could feel the warm wetness of her tears as she laid her face against my chest. "Why don’t you show me, and let me be the judge."
Laurel looked up at me. "I know what you’re trying to do. You’re trying to trick me into thinking you’re oh so sensitive so I’ll go to bed with you. Sure, I’ll give myself
back all my years, maybe even add on a decade or two for good measure, then you’ll tell me how I’m still pretty, or how age doesn’t really matter as long as you’ve
got this device, then you’ll zap me back into a teenage ingenue, take me in your arms, and treat me to a round of torrid May-December lovemaking."
My jaw dropped open. How did she know my plan? And what was this ‘December’ thing? Yes, I was now ‘old,’ but I was barely past the middle of August. And
after risking my life to save hers, only to wake up trapped in a toddler’s body, didn’t I deserve a little action? "That’s not true," I said. "You were a cute kid. And now
you’re a babe. I’m sure you’ll be hot no matter how old you get." I had tried my best to sound sincere, but the glowering in her eyes told me she wasn’t convinced.
