Jennifer sneezed as she just barely made it in time for her math class. She tried not to think about the people staring at her ears as she took her seat next to Susan. Or, she attempted to. Her tail was proving to be quite a problem when it came to sitting, as she pinched it between the hard plastic and her posterior. A few readjustments later, and she fully sat down.
Susan immediately turned to her. "Hey, why do you still have those things on?"
Jennifer knew lies would only dig her deeper. "You have to keep it quiet, but I think I'm coming down with something bad."
"Wait, you're saying the ears are part of the coughing and sneezing? How does that work?"
Jennifer paused. "You're gonna have to ask Kyle Perkins about it."
"Kyle Perkins? Why would I talk to that dweeb?"
"He gave it to me."
That caused Susan to fully turn to Jen. "Wait, are you saying that bitch-boy intentionally got you sick with something?!"
Jennifer gave a curt nod. "I'm hoping the worst is over, but it may not be, yet. Did it because of the pantsing."
"How are you gonna get back at him?"
Jennifer really didn't want to think about Kyle at this time, until she was certain she was over the effects of this curse. "I'm going to see how much he owes before I take it out of him. Also, I can't get him good enough if I'm sick." Susan gave a smile and a nod, then returned to listening to the teacher.
As the class dragged on, Jen found a weird itch across the entirety of her body. No matter how much she itched herself, there was always another spot. Her face, her hair, her legs, it was itchy everywhere. She was certain this had to be a mutation of the virus, but what was it doing to her? She regularly checked herself, but there was nothing popping out of her and there was nothing feeling wrong on the inside. A few minutes before the class was about to end, Jennifer realized she was a bit paler than usual. On closer inspection, she had numerous white hairs growing out of her, but it was so thick it looked like skin. She continued itching as the fur continued to grow in, starting at a downy, reasonable length until it became as coarse and wiry as she'd remembered the farm cows. What was worse, she could even feel it on her face, as brushing her hand against the fur caused a prickling sensation along her cheek.
Several of her classmates had begun staring at her as they also realized something was wrong, and she could feel their eyes burning holes in her back for the rows behind her. She chose to pick up her math book, open it on its end, and try to hide herself as best she could. Even the teacher, Mr. Peterson, was looking at her more than the other students.
Toward the end of the class, Mr. Peterson dismissed the class a few minutes early, but requested that Jennifer stay behind. She obliged, if only to avoid whatever crowd would form outside the classroom. The rest of the class quickly filed out
"Jen, I noticed your condition seems a little extreme. Are you alright?"
Jennifer nodded. "I've come down with a pretty bad sickness, but I couldn't miss today."
Her teacher took a few seconds to respond. "I see. Well, just understand that we would prefer that you don't spread any sickness among the student body, especially if it's an exotic one. When the kids get sick, so do the faculty. If you think you're still capable of spreading a sickness, please take an absence."
Jennifer nodded, partially to conceal rolling her eyes. Of course he'd make this about him. "I understand, Mr. Peterson. Maybe I'll do that tomorrow if I take a turn for the worse. I only have one class left, so I might as well finish out the day." With that, the warning bell sounded for her final class for the day. She picked up her books and backpack, then left the classroom.
